The Preferred Candidate:

  • Must have at least 6 years of relevant, progressive experience

DUTIES

  • Follow all corporate and job site safety procedures
  • Ensure that survey staff performs project research, boundary calculations, and records accuracy of survey data, notes, and sketches
  • Coordinate and schedule daily field work and make crew assignments
  • Carry out broad assignments and verbal instructions from Survey Practice Leader with little or no daily supervision
  • Participate as an active member of a project team when required
  • Maintain records, prepare reports, and compose correspondence relative to the work
  • Prepare fieldwork budgets
  • Maintain frequent and ongoing contact with clients, contractors, and office professional staff
  • Coordinate the repair and maintenance of survey vehicles and equipment
  • Assist Practice Leader with collections when requested
  • Prospect for new clients and opportunities
  • Strive to make each project profitable

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Post-secondary technical training in surveying, including two-year associate degree or technology degree is required

Experience

  • 6 years of relevant experience

Certifications 

  • LSIT required
  • CAD experience strongly preferred
  • Registered Professional Surveyor License preferred

Additional Requirements

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle
  • Must possess advanced reading, writing and math skills
  • Must be comfortable communicating with the public
  • Must possess intermediate to advanced computer skills (MS Office and relevant technical software required), including the ability to learn various types of company / client software

Work is performed both in the office and in the field, which may include all weather conditions, often on busy streets or construction sites. Involves extensive standing and walking, and includes clearing brush, working in difficult terrain, manholes and on difficult slopes. May be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 50 pounds. Work may routinely require the employee to sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl. The employee is regularly required to talk and hear and frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Required vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
