Job description

PURPOSE AND DESCRIPTION:

Controls software engineer for robotic paint and sealer applications. Mainly focused on Virtual Commissioning validation, consisting of setting up the Digital Twin to facilitate debugging the PLC and GUI software.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for controls system software (PLC/HMI/GUI) design and implementation.
  • Work with other controls engineers and /or supervise/train associate engineers working on projects.
  • Work as part of an execution team and assume complete responsibility of the virtual commissioning model development of paint and sealer cells
  • Import of 3D Models
  • Kinematics applied to 3D Models
  • PLC, GUI Interfacing and Emulation
  • Program and debug PLC programs.
  • Write Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Support integration on FAC floor.
  • Support field installation, startup, and debugging of systems.
  • Provide support for current systems.
  • Travel to customer facilities for onsite debug.
  • Hold internal and external training sessions/sales demos as needed.
  • Reliable, consistent attendance required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

1. SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE

  • Familiarity with various networking protocols
  • PLC set-up and programming skills. Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Omron, or Mitsubishi PLC experience is a plus.
  • Experience with virtual commissioning software (Process Simulate, Emulate3D) preferred.
  • High technical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and pneumatic devices.
  • Written and oral communication skills, software specifications, project status and technical information.
  • Strong Interpersonal and leadership skills with emphasis on customer satisfaction.

2. EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical/computer engineering or related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Minimum one year of PLC and/or PC software programming experience.
  • Experience with systems engineering, design, assembly, preferably related to robotic automation systems.
  • Virtual Commissioning/Digital Twin experience.

3. PHYSICAL EFFORT AND DEXTERITY

  • Proper use of personal computer.
  • Execution of on-site responsibilities requires significant amount of walking and standing on grating and concrete floors

4. VISUAL ACUITY, HEARING, SPEAKING

  • Good visual acuity, hearing and speaking is required.

5. ENVIRONMENT AND SCHEDULING

  • Scheduling can be 7 days per week on occasion.
  • Willing to work overtime when required to meet special deadlines in response to customer requirements.
  • Working in noisy and industrial/automotive environments at times.
  • The ability to travel overnight for systems installations, including overseas assignments.
