Precast Designer - Rochester, NY 


Rochester, NY is home to Fisher Associates' headquarters and its multidisciplinary engineering practice, making it a natural market for a designer who is interested in growing their precast expertise on structural infrastructure projects. 


In this role, you'll complete assigned drafting and design tasks for precast and prestressed concrete design work while collaborating with project teams, Project Managers, and Engineers. Your participation will help Fisher deliver safe, durable, constructible, and cost-effective solutions for transportation infrastructure and underground structures. 


If you're ready to be a part of a team designing complex concrete design work while being mentored by senior professionals, this role gives you the opportunity to gain experience developing your technical judgment, design quality, and leadership. 


What You'll Do 

  • Complete assigned precast drafting and design tasks for transportation infrastructure and underground structures. 
  • Collaborate with project teams to develop structurally sound, cost-effective, and visually appealing precast concrete designs. 
  • Create accurate drawings, plans, and specifications aligned with industry design standards. 
  • Support material cost estimation and assist Project Managers and Designers throughout the project lifecycle. 
  • Utilize, and support QA/QC processes and gain knowledge of precast and prestressed concrete technologies and codes. 

Requirements

What We're Looking For 

  • 0-5 years of design experience in precast concrete design engineering for transportation infrastructure and underground structures, including utility vaults, manholes, drainage structures, and pump stations. 
  • A.S. degree in Drafting, Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent relevant experience will be considered. 
  • Familiarity with ACI 318, ACI 350, ASCE-7, and AASHTO. 
  • Experience in AutoCAD. 
  • Highly adaptable and proactive approach to project delivery. 
  • Ability to foster trusting relationships through collaboration, integrity, respect, and active listening. 
  • Curiosity, continuous improvement mindset, and willingness to seek better solutions.

Hourly Pay: $28-$32/hour
