Summary:

This role is developing the training and competency required to provide professional services in Anatomic Pathology, including surgical pathology and specialized procedures. This position performs duties under direct supervision as designated by the Supervising Pathologist or Laboratory Director and does not perform independent gross examination until grossing training is complete, and competency has been demonstrated and documented.

Requirements:

1. Option One: Associate's Degree in Chemical Science, Biological Science, or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited
institution; or
Option Two: Education and training equivalent to this that includes:
- Education of 60 semester hours (or equivalent) from an accredited institution that includes either:
24 semester hours in Medical Laboratory Technology; or
24 semester hours in Science Courses (minimum six in Chemistry, six in Biology, and 12 in any combination of Chemistry or Biology).
- Training that includes either:
Laboratory training via an accredited program (ABHES- or CAAHEP-approved); or
Documented training of at least three months in each specialty in which the individual performs high-complexity testing.
2. Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Health Science or a related field preferred.
3. One year of Pathologist Assistant training in an accredited program preferred.
4. Experience using laboratory computer systems with Anatomic Pathology or Histology/Cytology Modules preferred.
5. Membership in the American Association of Pathologists' Assistants preferred.

Pay Range: $49.77-$69.68
