Job description

Position Summary:
The Intensive In-Home Associate Professional (AP) provides direct, structured, and skill-based interventions to children, adolescents, and families receiving IIH services. The AP works as part of a team-based service model under the supervision of a Qualified Professional (QP) and clinical oversight of a Licensed Professional (LP).

Services are delivered in the home, school, and community settings and are designed to:
  • Prevent out-of-home placement.
  • Stabilize behavioral health crises.
  • Improve family functioning.
  • All services must be medically necessary, person-centered, and compliant with NC Medicaid IIH service definition.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct Service Delivery.
  • Implementation of Person-Centered Plans (PCP).
  • Behavioral Intervention & Skill Building.
  • Crisis Support.
  • Family Support & Coaching.
  • Care Coordination.
  • Documentation & Compliance.
  • Team Participation.

Service Requirements (NC Medicaid IIH)
The AP must support services that are: Intensive (multiple contacts per week), Primarily face-to-face
Focused on: Preventing hospitalization & residential placement

Minimum Qualifications (Associate Professional – NC Definition):
  • Bachelor’s degree in a human services field, OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in a non-human services field + relevant experience, OR
  • Associate degree in a human services field + experience
  • Experience must be with MH/DD/SAS population

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge:
Basic understanding of: Behavioral health disorders, Family systems, Crisis intervention principles

Skills:
  • Ability to: Implement structured interventions, Manage challenging behaviors, Document services accurately.
  • Strong: Communication skills, Problem-solving abilities.

Abilities:
  • Work in home/community environments.
  • Maintain professional boundaries.
  • Respond effectively to crises.

Supervision Requirements

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in: Intensive In-Home services, Child/adolescent behavioral health.
  • Training in: Trauma-informed care, Behavioral intervention models, Crisis prevention.
