Job description

The Clinical Laboratory Scientist performs testing and demonstrates proficiency and understanding of the procedures involved in general laboratory testing, maintenance, quality control and quality management. Performs other duties assigned by department management according to policies and procedures and the mission of Woman's Hospital.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree, graduated from an accredited Medical Technology program
  • One of the following: MT, ASCP Registration; MLS, ASCP Registration; CLT, Registration from HEW Proficiency exam; Military Clinical Specialist training.
  • Current licensure with the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners
  • New graduates must obtain the ASCP certification within 90 days of hire

Responsibilities:
  • Processes specimens accurately (orders tests, enter charges, provides documentation) adhering to laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Records and reports test results accurately and in accordance with departmental policies.
  • Maintains accurate and complete records/files/paperwork in accordance with laboratory section policies.
  • Performs quality control procedures and records results noting any corrective action, if needed.
  • Maintains laboratory equipment/reagents in accordance to manufacturers' specifications or departmental policies.
  • Learn laboratory methods, technology, and instrumentation of both new and old applications willingly.
  • Any other duties as assigned by Woman's Hospital.

Schedule:
7 nights on / 7 nights off
Wednesday - Wednesday; Nights
Pay Range:
Hourly/Non-Exempt
$27.00 - $40.00
Night Differential: $5.00/hour
