Job description

Provides expertise and leadership at the enterprise level related to vast quantities of data (including disparate data), enterprise analytics, statistical modeling and initiatives. Leads staff in descriptive, predictive, prescriptive and ensemble modeling, advanced statistical techniques, use of database tools and/or other approaches in quantitative analysis of complex business situations.

Essential Functions 

  • Creates and executes solutions form initial concept to fully tested production and communicates results to a broad range of audiences. 
  • Advanced use of current and emerging technologies to evaluate trends and develop actionable insights and recommendations to management, via understanding of the business model and the information available for analysis. 
  • Uses data, statistical and quantitative analysis, explanatory and high complexity predictive modeling and fact-based management to drive decision making. 
  • Mentors less senior staff. Leads cross functional teams. Routinely work on multiple highly complex assignments. 
  • Provides consultation to senior leadership on a normal basis. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

  • Superior analytical skills with diverse analytics and statistical software and applications. Excellent interpersonal skills, written and oral communication skills. Proven leadership skills. 
  • Strong Python skills (data pipelines, automation, scripting 
  • Experience with SQL and cloud data warehousing (BigQuery or equivalent) 
  • Experience with cost/financial data analysis or FinOps-adjacent reporting 
  • 3+ years of experience in data science or data engineering roles 
  • Experience with medallion (bronze/silver/gold) data architecture 
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks (Spark, Delta Lake, notebooks/jobs) 
  • Proficiency in Power BI and Microsoft 365 (Excel/Power Query) for reporting 
  • Terraform / Infrastructure-as-Code experience 
  • Applied machine learning experience (forecasting, anomaly detection, cost optimization models) 
  • Experience building or integrating agentic/LLM-based workflows 
  • One of the following: FinOps Certified Practitioner / FinOps for AI, Google Cloud certification, Azure certification, OCI certification 


Minimum Education

Bachelor's degree in data science, computer science, applied mathematics, data analytics, statistics or related quantitative field. Related experience may offset degree requirements and related education/degree may offset experience requirements.

Minimum Experience

Five years' work experience in measurement and analysis, quantitative business problem solving, operations analysis, marketing analysis, simulation and/or predictive analytics.  


Domicile Information 

The preferred location for this hybrid position is Memphis, TN, Pittsburgh, PA or Plano, TX.  However, we will consider candidates based elsewhere within the United States (excluding Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. territories). Candidates residing within 50 miles of a FedEx campus will be required to work on-site at a FedEx location several times per week.
