Job Description

We are seeking a senior software architect with at least 8 years of experience in designing scalable, distributed systems to join the Data Analytics Team. This role is expected to provide architectural guidance to the analytics team as it builds and evolves a Big Data Platform, and as analytics solutions are instantiated on top of the platform. The architect is expected to be self-driven, take charge in identifying and fixing problems, and excel in a fast changing, growing environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with business analysts and data scientists in eliciting and articulating solution requirements; 

Design scalable data analytics platform and solutions;

Make architectural decisions for the data analytics platform and solutions;

Assess, benchmark and select data analytics technologies to be added to the big data platform;

Support development lead in determining architecturally significant requirements for data analytics solutions;

Design big data platform API;

Provide guidance and mentor developers in the data analytics team;

Skills:

Required

In-depth knowledge on the Hadoop stack (Map reduce, HDFS, Hive, Pig, Zookeeper);

Experience with Business Intelligence frameworks and ETL tools;

Proficiency in the Java programming language;

Proficiency in the Unified Modeling Language;

Experience with RDBMS and SQL;

Experience architecting systems following the REST architectural style;

Experience with machine learning methods and libraries (e.g. Weka, Mahout, Sci-kit);

Practical experience with the Scala programming language (desirable);

Practical experience with the Play web framework (desirable);

High-level knowledge on the Spark eco-system;

B.Sc. degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or related field is required
