Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal / Sr Principal Nuclear Surety Systems Engineer. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program.
A Nuclear Surety Systems Engineer has the opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a system designed to provide another 50 years of security for this great nation. Nuclear Surety ensures that nuclear weapons are protected against peacetime and wartime threats at all times.
A Nuclear Surety Systems Engineer at Northrop Grumman on the Sentinel program will be provided the opportunity to:
  • Perform decomposition of Department of Defense safety manuals into requirements and allocating them to design teams for implementation
  • Provide systems engineering expertise to the design, integration, and testing of a next generation ICBM weapon system
  • Participate in technical planning, system integration, verification, validation, cost, risk, supportability, and analysis for mechanical, electrical, and integrated systems
  • Evaluate the physical security design based on the Department of Defense Safety manuals
  • Interface directly with various compartments of the Department of Defense and Department of Energy to ensure safe design and operation of nuclear weapon systems
  • Use model based engineering tools on a major weapon system to pioneer a new way to evaluate and analyze modern design
  • Learn a niche discipline that spans all aspects of Nuclear Power and Munitions

Basic Qualifications:
This requisition may be filled at either the Principal Systems Engineer level (T-03) or Sr. Principal Systems Engineer level (T-04).
Principal Systems Engineer:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or electrical, computer, or software engineering discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, a Master's Degree in computer science or electrical, computer, or software engineering discipline and 3 years of related experience, or a PhD in computer science or electrical, computer, or software engineering discipline and 1 year of related experience
  • 1 year of experience with electrical or software analyses/test; verification of requirements
  • 1 year of experience with any of the following tools and languages: DOORs, Cameo, TeamCenter, GIT, JAZZ, NX, Capitol

Sr. Principal Systems Engineer:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or an electrical, computer, or software engineering discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience, a Master's Degree in computer science or an electrical, computer, or software engineering discipline and 6 years of related experience, or a PhD in computer science or an electrical, computer, or software engineering discipline and 4 years of related experience
  • 3 years of experience with electrical or software analyses/test; verification of requirements
  • 3 years of experience with any of the following tools and languages: DOORs, Cameo, TeamCenter, GIT, JAZZ, NX, Capitol

Required for both levels:
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active Top-Secret Clearance
  • PhD in computer science or electrical, computer, or software engineering discipline
  • Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) Graduate Certificate
  • 5 years of experience in Systems Engineering
  • 5 years of experience with any of the following tools and languages: DOORs, Cameo, TeamCenter, GIT, JAZZ, NX, Capitol
  • 5 years of experience with electrical or software analyses/test and verification of requirements

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
