Job description

GAI Consultants, Inc. is looking for a Civil Cad Operator for support of civil engineering projects. This position requires working in a team-based environment with engineering and other technical subject matter experts. The successful candidate will perform CAD work of red-lined engineering markups for projects working under engineering supervision. This position is eligible for GAI's flexible Hybrid workplace place/Telework Policy.
Job Duties:
  • Opening, revising, plotting, and saving of drawing CAD files.
  • Create new drawings from templates or from scratch with title blocks and border drawing blocks.
  • Create and modify drawing blocks, borders, and title blocks
  • Provide direction for compiling, collating, assembling, and verifying completeness of drawing and project document packages.
  • Use of scaling with model and paper space.
  • Ability to use style and formatting in CAD software.
  • Knowledge of plot profiles and user profiles in CAD package.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, including the creation of Surfaces, Grading, Volumes, and Profiles.
  • Knowledge of Transoft Auto TURN extension for AutoCAD

BIM experience preferred.
General Characteristics
  • Accountable for time management and forecasting budget, scope, and deadlines. Demonstrates advanced knowledge of CAD skills. Focuses on quality. Performs self reviews of work. Corrects errors before submitting work to others for review. Demonstrates ability to work concurrently with numerous project and personnel

Education
  • Associate Degree from an accredited Technical School or equivalent experience

Technical Responsibilities
  • Able to complete complex analyses and presentations. Reviews finished products for compliance with company standards and procedures

Management Responsibility
  • Provides Significant oversight and mentoring to lower-level CAD Operators
  • Given general instructions and works independently with minimal supervision. Receives general review of project work

Communication Skills
  • Possess excellent communication skills. Facilitates interaction between staff; able to effectively coach and mentor lower-level CAD Staff
