Job description

Overview:
Our Richmond Hill Manufacturing/Engineering client is looking for talented CAD Tech's to join their growing team! This is entry to intermediate level with 3-5 years of experience in providing planning, drawing/models and design support to the project team. It's an excellent opportunity to be part of end-to-end project process and to grow with a reputable organization.
What you will be doing:

  • Creating/ coordinating / updating and reviewing drawings within the Engineering & Projects team.

  • Support the project team by creating models and drawings in SolidWorks

  • Specify electrical and mechanical components in the drawings

  • Modification of existing designs and drawings

  • Reverse engineering of existing electrical systems to produce drawings

  • Producing parts lists and bills of material (BOM)

  • Create dimensioned drawings and 3D models, components & assemblies based on input from engineers

  • Upload and maintain drawings using a document management system

  • Ensure compliance with quality standards in CAD drawings

  • Redesign drawings according to markups and specifications

  • Translate and convert hand drawings and sketches into CAD systems

  • Read, evaluate and interpret designs and drawings

  • Create and implement work methodologies and strategies

  • Document and update all drawings

  • Coordinate the work activities associated with the company CAD System file management and configuration with consultants, engineers, contractors, and departments, as well as outside agencies

  • Assist in the preparation of bid/ tender documents


What you must have:

  • An Associate of Applied Science Degree/diploma in drafting OR Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or design OR C.E.T.

  • A minimum three (3) to five (5) years’ experience working in a CAD Specialist position or the equivalent, producing drawings and models using SolidWorks

  • CAD certification is an asset

  • Experience in low voltage/medium voltage power distribution equipment and cable management systems

  • Experience in 3D drawing

  • Knowledge of engineering specifications (CSA, NEC, etc.) is an asset

  • Demonstrate ability to work effectively as part of a team, or alone

  • Effective written and oral communication skills 

  • Self-motivated with strong problem-solving abilities.
