This position is based out of our corporate offices in Reading. PA. This an office first position, at least 4 days in office.

Position Summary:
As a Penske Associate Data Platform Engineer/Platform Lead within the Digital Products organization, you will play a key role in designing, evolving, and supporting data platforms that enable our digital products and SaaS solutions.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, system administrators, and operations teams, to ensure the seamless integration of development and operations activities.  

You will contribute to platform design, troubleshoot complex production issues, and recommend improvements based on industry trends and product needs. This role requires a balance of deep technical expertise, product mindset, and the ability to operate effectively within a shared-responsibility model across Digital Products and Enterprise IT.

This position is based out of our corporate location in Reading, PA. This is an office-first position, in office at least 4 days a week.

Major Responsibilities:

Technology
Design and implement network and connectivity solutions supporting digital products and SaaS platforms
Translate product and engineering requirements into scalable, secure, and high-performing infrastructure designs
Architect and support hybrid and cloud-native networking solutions across cloud platforms and enterprise data centers
Ensure high availability, resiliency, and performance of product-facing systems and services
Evaluate and implement modern networking technologies (e.g., Service mesh, zero trust architectures)
Analyze, engineer, and optimize software-defined networking and cloud-based data communication solutions
Solve complex technical problems involving distributed systems and multiple dependencies

Project Management
Develop implementation plans, testing strategies, and timelines for complex, cross-functional initiatives
Partner with product and engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle, from design through production
Lead initiatives from concept through deployment and ongoing optimization
Contribute to technology and infrastructure roadmaps aligned to product strategy
Support continuous delivery through automation and repeatable infrastructure practices

Analytics
Monitor and analyze system, network, and application performance across product environments
Establish baselines and performance benchmarks aligned to product SLAs/SLOs
Analyze traffic patterns, latency, and system behavior to optimize performance and cost
Support capacity planning, forecasting, and scaling strategies
Lead and support disaster recovery planning and resilience testing across environments

Customer Experience
Collaborate with product teams, stakeholders, and enterprise partners to understand current and future needs
Act as a technical advisor on performance, reliability, and scalability of product platforms
Partner with Enterprise IT teams to align on standards, security, and infrastructure capabilities
Communicate effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders
Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement efforts
Other projects as assigned by leadership

Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience required
7+ years' experience as a DevOps Engineer
2+ years leading organizational implementations of DevOps platforms and pipelines.
Proven experience as a DevOps Architect or similar role, designing and implementing DevOps practices in complex software development environments.
Strong knowledge of DevOps principles, continuous integration, continuous delivery, and infrastructure automation
Hands-on experience with containerization technologies like Docker and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes, OpenShift
Solid understanding of cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP). Hands on experience with cloud infrastructure a plus.
Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools, such as Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack
Deep knowledge of Agile principles and practices and the ability to transfer that understanding at all levels of the organization.
Develop and maintain documentation for DevOps processes, procedures, and architecture to facilitate knowledge sharing and onboarding of new team members.
Identify and resolve technical issues related to infrastructure, deployment, and release management in a timely manner.
Collaborate with stakeholders to define "security as code" standards to enable security and compliance within the DevOps environment.
Mentor and provide guidance to software engineers and operations teams on DevOps best practices, automation, and deployment methodologies.
Automated collection of audit & compliance artifacts. Ensure compliance with industry standards such as PCI DSS, SOX & GDPR
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Certified Kubernetes Administrator) are a plus.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional, matrixed environment
Strong communication skills and ability to partner with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
