The Opportunity

This is a full-time opportunity supporting Dentalcorp's ongoing data and analytics transformation. Dentalcorp operates a Dental Support Organization (DSO) model across 500+ clinics, centralizing technology, data, and operations while preserving clinical autonomy at the practice level. As Dentalcorp continues to modernize its technology landscape, the Data Engineering & Architecture team plays a critical role in delivering trusted data, scalable platforms, and actionable insights that enable better business decisions and improved patient outcomes.

The Associate Data Engineer will contribute to the development, support, and continuous improvement of Dentalcorp's enterprise data platform. In this role, you will work alongside experienced data engineers, architects, analysts, and quality engineering team members to build foundational skills in data pipelines, data modelling, data quality, source system integration, and cloud data platforms.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone early in their data engineering career who is eager to learn, enjoys solving technical problems, and wants to grow within a team that is building modern, enterprise-scale data capabilities.

Who You Are

You are a motivated and curious technology professional with a strong interest in data engineering, analytics, and cloud data platforms. You enjoy working with data, learning new tools, and understanding how reliable data solutions support business decisions.

You are comfortable asking questions, receiving feedback, and applying what you learn to improve your work. You are detail-oriented, collaborative, and committed to building strong technical foundations. You understand that high-quality data engineering requires accuracy, documentation, testing, and disciplined delivery.

You are energized by the opportunity to grow in a modern data environment where legacy systems, cloud platforms, reporting needs, and business transformation intersect. You are looking for a role where you can contribute meaningfully while continuing to develop your technical skills under the guidance of experienced team members.

Our most successful team members are proactive, adaptable, and solution-oriented. They take ownership, embrace change, collaborate openly, and are driven by delivering exceptional results and service.

In This Role, You Will

Data Pipeline Development & Support

  • Assist with the development, maintenance, and support of data pipelines that enable reporting, analytics, and operational decision-making.
  • Support data ingestion, transformation, and validation activities across internal and external source systems.
  • Work with senior team members to troubleshoot data issues, investigate pipeline failures, and document resolution steps.
  • Contribute to the improvement of repeatable data engineering patterns, templates, and operational runbooks.

Snowflake & Cloud Data Platform Exposure

  • Build hands-on experience with Dentalcorp's modern data platform, including Snowflake and related data engineering tools.
  • Support the migration, validation, and modernization of data assets as part of broader platform transformation initiatives.
  • Learn how cloud-based data solutions are designed, deployed, monitored, and maintained in an enterprise environment.
  • Assist with performance investigation, data load validation, and environment support activities under guidance.

Data Quality & Validation

  • Support data validation, reconciliation, and quality assurance activities to help improve trust in enterprise data.
  • Work with QA, analytics, and business stakeholders to investigate data discrepancies and confirm expected outcomes.
  • Help document source-to-target mappings, validation results, known issues, and business rules.
  • Contribute to the development of checks and controls that improve data reliability over time.

Documentation, Collaboration & Delivery

  • Create and maintain clear technical documentation, including pipeline notes, data flow summaries, validation evidence, and operational procedures.
  • Participate in team ceremonies, planning sessions, design discussions, and delivery reviews.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, architects, QA team members, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver assigned work.
  • Use team tools such as Jira, Confluence, Git-based source control, and CI/CD processes to support disciplined delivery.

Learning, Growth & Engineering Discipline

  • Develop foundational skills in SQL, data modelling, ETL/ELT development, orchestration, data warehousing, and source system integration.
  • Learn and follow team standards for development, testing, code review, deployment, and production support.
  • Seek feedback from senior engineers and apply it to improve technical quality and delivery consistency.
  • Build awareness of responsible AI-assisted work, including the need to validate AI-generated outputs and protect sensitive data.
What You'll Bring
  • 1+ years of experience, internship experience, academic project work, or equivalent practical exposure in data engineering, analytics engineering, database development, software development, or a related technical discipline.
  • Foundational SQL skills, with an interest in query development, troubleshooting, and data validation.
  • Exposure to data pipelines, ETL/ELT concepts, data warehousing, or analytical reporting environments.
  • Interest in learning Snowflake or comparable cloud data platforms.
  • Familiarity with Python, scripting, or modern development practices is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with source control, Jira, Confluence, CI/CD, or Agile delivery practices is considered an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail and a willingness to document work clearly and consistently.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset, with the ability to investigate issues, ask thoughtful questions, and learn from feedback.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across technical and non-technical teams.
