Job Summary

CVS Health is seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join its Vaccination Support Program as an Immunization Nurse Float. In this patient-facing role, the RN will administer a variety of immunizations, including Influenza, COVID-19, MMR, and other CDC-recommended vaccines, while delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced retail healthcare environment.

The ideal candidate is clinically proficient, adaptable, customer-focused, and committed to promoting community health through safe and efficient vaccine administration.
 

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer a wide range of vaccines, including:
    • Influenza (Flu)
    • COVID-19
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps & Rubella)
    • Hepatitis A & B
    • Tdap/Td
    • Pneumococcal
    • Shingles (Shingrix)
    • HPV
    • Meningococcal
    • RSV
    • Other CDC-recommended immunizations
  • Assess patients for vaccine eligibility and screen for contraindications.
  • Educate patients regarding vaccine benefits, possible side effects, and post-vaccination care.
  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions following immunization and provide appropriate clinical intervention when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic documentation of all immunizations.
  • Adhere to CDC guidelines, state nursing regulations, infection prevention protocols, and CVS Health policies.
  • Utilize proper PPE and maintain a safe, clean clinical environment.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists, healthcare professionals, and store leadership to ensure efficient clinic operations.
  • Deliver outstanding patient service while maintaining professionalism and empathy.
  • Adapt to changing workflow, patient volume, and business needs.
  • Float between assigned CVS retail locations as required.
Required Qualifications
  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Virginia.
  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience, including immunization administration.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
  • Experience administering multiple adult and pediatric vaccines.
  • Strong medication administration and clinical assessment skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a collaborative healthcare team.
  • Comfortable working in a high-volume retail healthcare environment.
  • Must be flexible with work schedules, including weekends and varying shifts.
  • Must not appear on the DEA Excluded Parties List.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous retail, community health, urgent care, occupational health, or vaccination clinic experience.
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems.
  • Strong patient education and counseling skills.
  • Previous CVS Health or Aetna experience is a plus.
Education
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
