Job description

Role Overview
The BSA Quality Control Engineer at MOBIS North America Electrified Powertrain, LLC (MNAe) plays a critical role in ensuring strict adherence to quality standards and regulatory requirements throughout the production process. This position involves the analysis of quality control data for in-process products, and final products. The Quality Control Engineer is responsible for performing detailed root cause analyses of any deviations or non-conformances and generating comprehensive reports to support continuous improvement efforts. Additionally, the role requires close collaboration with customers and vendors to address quality issues and ensure alignment with their quality expectations.
By ensuring the effective implementation of quality assurance policies and procedures, and working in tandem with cross-functional teams, the person in this role plays an integral part in sustaining and enhancing product quality while cultivating strong relationships with external stakeholders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (To perform within this position successfully, the incumbent must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.)
Quality Control and Assurance:
  • Ensure accurate documentation of quality control processes and procedures, including the development and continuous update of control plans, work instructions, and special characteristics management plans, in alignment with revised Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
  • Collaborate in the creation of essential quality documents, such as work instructions, procedures, and flowcharts, ensuring clarity, compliance, and adherence to industry standards.
  • Leverage expertise in data analysis tools such as Excel and PowerPoint to effectively compile, analyze, and present quality-related information, including trend analysis and performance metrics.
  • Monitor product quality, repairs, workmanship, proper labeling, and part allocation, ensuring strict adherence to established quality standards.
  • Oversee torque audits utilizing Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts, data forms, and the Torque Auditor tool to ensure consistent compliance with quality standards and process controls.
  • Prepare and present daily, month-to-date, and annual quality reports, providing insightful analysis and tracking trends to support decision-making by the management team.

Data Analysis and Trend Tracking:
  • Utilize advanced data analysis techniques to track quality trends over time, identify potential issues, and recommend corrective actions based on data-driven insights.
  • Maintain a focus on identifying patterns in quality metrics, ensuring proactive solutions to mitigate recurring issues.

5-S Standards Maintenance:
  • Ensure compliance with 5-S standards within the Quality Control Department to maintain organized, efficient, and safe working environments.

Communication and Collaboration:
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and management regarding operational, safety, and quality concerns, fostering an environment of collaboration and problem-solving.

Safety and Compliance:
  • Ensure and promote adherence to workplace safety standards and practices at Mobis.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Support the development of company policies, operating procedures, and organizational goals.
  • Contribute to cross-functional process improvement teams, help implement improvement plans and assess the effectiveness of quality initiatives.
  • Coordinate and conduct supplier audits for qualifications or process changes to ensure alignment with quality standards
  • Perform other duties as required

Required Education & Experience:
  • Completion of an associate degree or certificate from an educational institution in a related filed, Electrical, Electronic, Automotive Technology, and Precision Measurement Engineering

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • 1+ years of experience in a relevant field, preferably with exposure to data analysis, quality control, quality assurance, or mechanical, electrical, or manufacturing environments.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities, with a demonstrated capacity to analyze situations, identify root causes, and implement actionable solutions.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines while maintaining a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and other relevant software applications for data analysis, reporting, and presentation.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and a solid understanding of mechanical processes.
  • Basic understanding of reading blueprints and interpreting part specifications, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

Preferred Education & Experience:
  • Experience working with EV batteries
  • Working knowledge of 8D, 5 Why, and six sigma
  • Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical principles
  • Power bi, Tableau, or other data visualization software.

Working Conditions:
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • May be required to work overtime or weekends
  • Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the job, which may include lifting heavy objects and standing for long periods.
