This is a unique opportunity to join a team supporting the launch of advanced Jenbacher engine production in Waukesha. The role will help establish the maintenance, automation, and equipment reliability foundation for a major manufacturing ramp-up.
We are seeking a hands-on Automation Maintenance Technician to support the startup, ramp-up, and ongoing operation of advanced manufacturing equipment in Waukesha. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliable performance of automated systems through troubleshooting, system support, and participation in continuous improvement and Industry 4.0 initiatives.
As one of our first Robotics and Controls technicians, you'll have the unique opportunity to complete specialized training at our strategic production hub in Jenbach, Austria. You'll gain exceptional expertise and then bring that knowledge back to Waukesha to help train and mentor your colleagues. This is more than a job-it's a chance to lead, shape the future of energy, and make a lasting impact on a global scale.
What you'll do:
  • Participate in a 3-4 month training program at our state-of-the-art factory in the Austrian Alps to learn our advanced assembly techniques
  • Prepare and wire industrial equipment according to electrical schematics.
  • Support electrical design and implementation of custom machinery and automation systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve faults on automated and robotic systems.
  • Partner cross-functionally with engineering and technical teams to ensure safe, reliable system operation.
  • Support and execute projects, including system upgrades and process improvements.
  • Conduct and document test activities related to Industry 4.0 initiatives.
  • Assist in the development of risk assessments for specialized equipment.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts to optimize automation performance.

What you'll bring:
  • Completed technical training (apprenticeship, associates degree, or equivalent experience in electrical maintenance, automation, mechatronics, industrial controls, robotics, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in industrial maintenance, automation, electrical controls, or related technical work.
  • Experience with PLC systems (e.g., Siemens S7, B&R Automation Studio), including troubleshooting; programming experience is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems and automation technologies
  • Experience with robotics systems and drive technology preferred.
  • Familiarity with Industry 4.0 technologies and communication platforms preferred.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office) and experience with electrical design tools (e.g., EPLAN P8)
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
  • Ability to work additional hours as needed.

  • Location: Waukesha, WI
  • Work Schedule: Onsite Monday through Frida
  • Travel: Approximately 10% travel may be required, including an initial extended trip (2-4 months) to Jenbach, Austria for training.
