JOB DESCRIPTION
Vertiv is currently looking to add an Electrical Design Engineer to our Anderson, SC team. We look for people who are 100% team oriented, self-driven, and technically proficient. This opportunity is for someone who wants to work within a technically driven team with minimal functional management and continue to build on the reputation we have created throughout Europe and the Middle East to establish the same reputation in the United States. This means that everyone is expected to be self-driven. Our leadership team will guide you on projects which suit your strengths, but a willingness to get the job done and overcome obstacles is a must. This position is best suited to someone who enjoys a variety of new challenges, a hands-on environment and will accept the challenges and reap the benefits of working for a facility with a blank canvas. You will have an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to electrical design pertaining to Electrical Switchgear.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Electrical Design Manager, this position presents an excellent opportunity for a qualified professional pertaining to design and controls engineering functions of power distribution equipment.
  • Develop and assemble electrical drawing packages to be reviewed by electrical design engineering team.
  • Prepare detailed electrical schematics, single line diagrams and communications network drawings in compliance with customer drawing packages, specifications and pre-established budget.
  • Preparation of electrical bill of materials.
  • Collaborate with mechanical and automation design teams along with project management to identify and resolve issues as well as ensuring the successful completion of projects.
  • Contribute to the development of new practices and processes within design team and assist in implementation of these to improve department performance.
  • Develop knowledge of NEC and UL standards to ensure products are designed to comply with all relevant regulations.
  • Work with the project management team to ensure all project timelines and goals are met or exceeded on multiple projects at any given time.
  • Development of control wiring for automatic transfer controllers, breaker interlocking, PLC equipment and power quality monitoring systems.
  • Creation of test scripts to prove out functionality of control schemes.
  • Assist in training/mentoring newer team members.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree and 3+ years of experience OR Associate's Degree and 4 years of experience in a related role.
  • Aptitude for problem solving and ability to apply this to electrical control design.
  • Capable of taking individual ownership of projects and work in a team environment as necessary.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and maintain latest revisions of design drawings.
  • An adaptability to respond to a fast-moving business environment.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Display a proactive flexible approach to working within a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3 plus years of experience in designing electrical and control wiring packages.
  • Knowledge of low voltage switchgear and basic understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Proven experience in a related position / comparable role involving exposure to design software like AutoCAD, SEE Electrical, etc.
  • Proven understanding of Underwriters Laboratories (UL) standards including but not limited to UL 1558, UL 891, UL 489 & UL 1066.
