Our integrated engineering and manufacturing platform transforms complex designs into production-ready solutions, helping customers move faster, build smarter, and deliver critical systems when they matter most. Divergent is a qualified Tier 1 supplier to global automotive OEMs and supports leading U.S. aerospace and defense companies.
Join us and help push the boundaries of what can be built.
Schedule: This is a 4x10 shift schedule.
Shifts Available:

Purpose
Divergent is on the lookout for an adept and driven AM Service Engineer (known internally as AM Service Specialist) dedicated to the maintenance and enhancement of our current and forthcoming Additive Manufacturing (AM) equipment. We are committed to setting a new benchmark in aerospace and automotive manufacturing, and we need a proactive team member to help us redefine the future of manufacturing and automation.
The Role
  • Own the technical performance of additive manufacturing equipment by developing, validating, and implementing maintenance strategies, diagnostic methods, and equipment improvements that maximize part quality, machine availability, and production throughput.
  • Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, optical, controls, and process-related failures, determine underlying root causes, and develop effective corrective and preventive actions that eliminate recurring issues. Assist with intra-facility equipment relocations as needed.
  • Apply service expertise to analyze, troubleshoot, optimize, and improve machine performance, reliability, and production capability where standard procedures are insufficient.
  • Design, refine, and continuously improve maintenance procedures, calibration methodologies, troubleshooting workflows, and equipment operating standards based on technical analysis and operational data.
  • Execute advanced optical, mechanical, and system calibration activities requiring independent technical judgment to maintain demanding precision/process capability requirements.
  • Analyze equipment performance trends, failure modes, and production data to identify opportunities for improved reliability, reduced downtime, increased process capability, and lower operating cost.
  • Work with and optimize PLC logic, automation interfaces, and equipment configurations to improve system performance and operational robustness.
  • Serve as the technical service subject matter expert for assigned additive manufacturing systems, providing guidance to production, manufacturing engineering, quality, and maintenance teams. Communicate machine status effectively, along with estimated repair timelines.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, control architectures, and system documentation to solve novel technical problems and develop effective solutions. Adhere strictly to safety protocols.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives supporting production capability, equipment reliability, quality systems, and manufacturing excellence (AS9100, IATF 16949, etc.).
  • Develop technical documentation including maintenance standards, troubleshooting guides, calibration procedures, work instructions, and best practices while mentoring technicians in their application.
  • Evaluate and recommend equipment modifications, component upgrades, spare parts strategies, and process improvements that improve long-term system performance.
  • Collaborate with equipment suppliers, controls engineers, manufacturing engineers, and cross-functional technical teams to resolve complex technical challenges and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Perform additional technical responsibilities as required to advance manufacturing capability and departmental objectives.

  • Interest and ability to work hands-on with additive technology: working with the machines, systems, and processes in a factory environment.
  • Highly self-motivated and able to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast paced, startup manufacturing environment.
  • Strong ability to think and work autonomously when required, and to perform under pressure to logically troubleshoot systems and processes.
  • Ability to effectively use a wide variety of hand tools and test equipment.
  • Proficient verbal and written skills especially related to technical records, documentation, and presentation.
  • Solid interpersonal skills, capable of working within a small, growing team and interfacing with engineering and manufacturing groups to understand the production system and the associated constraints.
