Role:
Associate Consulting Manager, Close & Consolidations (Blackline)
Location:
  • Clearsulting is headquartered in Cleveland, OH, with additional offices located in Chicago, IL; Columbus, OH; and Dallas, TX. Other cities are welcome remotely.
  • Office Options: Hybrid or Remote. Team members residing within a 45 minute commuting radius of a Clearsulting office, we expect 8 days of in-person work per month, allowing flexibility choosing these days to accommodate client meetings, team syncs and individual schedules.
  • Travel Expectations: 20-40%

What you'll do
  • Collaborate with project teams to design and implement improvements to financial workflows and reporting structures.
  • Support and own key workstreams within financial close and Record-to-Report (R2R) transformation projects, ensuring alignment with client goals and timelines.
  • Build deep expertise in financial close processes and BlackLine (or similar) implementations, including areas such as account reconciliations, journal entries, consolidations, flux analysis, intercompany accounting, and financial reporting.
  • Partner with client teams to gather business requirements, design solutions, and support implementation efforts.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and deliver data-driven recommendations to improve efficiency and control.
  • Lead or actively contribute to client-facing workshops and meetings, including presenting insights and facilitating discussions.
  • Create and deploy dashboards and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI) to provide visibility into client processes and transformation opportunities.
  • Apply core project delivery principles (e.g., requirements gathering, testing, deployment support) to ensure successful execution.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team environment.

What You'll Bring:
  • 4-6 years of experience in financial close, accounting, or finance transformation consulting.
  • Hands-on experience with financial close processes and exposure to tools such as BlackLine or similar platforms.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated experience identifying and implementing process improvements.
  • Experience with data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Excel; exposure to Microsoft Fabric is a plus).
  • Working knowledge of financial systems and ERP platforms.
  • Experience contributing to transformation or technology implementation projects.
  • Understanding of project delivery fundamentals, including requirements gathering, testing, and change management.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly convey insights to both internal teams and client stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.

Nice-to-Haves:
  • Experience with Trintech (e.g., T-Recs) or other financial close solutions.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as FinancialForce, SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite.
  • Exposure to end-to-end R2R process improvement or transformation initiatives.
  • Experience mentoring or guiding junior team members.
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma or similar process improvement methodologies.

The compensation range for this position is $106,000 - $132,000. We are committed to ensuring our offers reflect the value each candidate brings to the role. Final salary placement will be based on upon several factors, including, level of expertise, relevant work experience, technology certifications, educational background, geography and alignment with industry standards. This role is eligible for our bonus program.
