Job description

Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated candidate for its Adjunct Instructor - Computer Information Systems (Part-Time) position in the Academic & Student Affairs Division. This position is located on Atlanta Technical College's Main campus, just South of downtown Atlanta, Ga.

Under general supervision of the Dean of Cybersecurity & Related Technologies (CIS), the Adjunct Instructor - Computer Information Systems - will be a part-time faculty member that teaches in areas such as A+, networking, security, cloud, Linux, programming, databases, or ITSM.  Successful candidates bring current industry experience, a student-first mindset, and one or more relevant industry certifications aligned to the specific CIS course or courses taught. Adjunct faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions of employment appointed on a per academic term basis. This position may require teaching mornings, afternoons, evenings, and/or weekends based on department needs and availability.

Duties and responsibilities include, but may not be limited to the following:

         Deliver engaging, outcomes-aligned instruction in person on the ATC campus.

         Prepare lesson plans, and assessments that map to course learning outcomes and related industry certifications.

         Evaluate student work timely, constructive feedback. 

    Maintain accurate grades in the college LMS.

         Hold regular student support hours and communicate proactively about progress and expectations.

         Integrate hands-on labs, case studies, and real-world scenarios appropriate to a two-year technical college audience.

         Coordinate with the Associate Dean and program lead on curriculum alignment, assessment, and continuous improvement.

         Follow all college policies related to academic integrity, safety, accessibility, and records.

         Familiarity with IT service management practices, cybersecurity frameworks, and modern cloud or endpoint environments.

    Current industry certification(s) aligned to the course(s) required, for example A+, Network+, Security+, CCNA,  AZ-104, AWS, RHCSA, Linux+, Splunk, ITIL 4, or similar. 

         Attends meetings, professional development training, workshops, seminars, and conferences to maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in the field.

         Observes and enforces institutional policies, rules, and regulations; maintains qualifications for employment as described by the Technical College System of Georgia.

         Serves on committees and participates in community and college initiatives as directed.

         Follows rules and regulations as described by the institution.

         Performs other duties as assigned.

         Master's degree in computer information systems, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or Computer Science OR a Master's degree in a related field with relevant coursework and professional experience.

         (2) Two or more years of recent relevant professional experience in the subject area.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference may be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum requirements, possess and demonstrate the following:

         Advanced Microsoft Certification

         AWS Specialty Certification

         Any relevant industry certifications aligned to the teaching area

         Experience with educational technologies, learning software, and online assessment tools such as BANNER or other student database systems.

         Experience teaching in higher education
