The Role
Supervises, assigns, coordinates and evaluates semi-skilled and skilled trades personnel according to their skill, experience and job knowledge. Supervises and trains employees to improve quality and quantity of work performed. Recommends training to enhance skill and productivity of employees, and assists in development of training procedures. Breaks broad strategies down to practical action plans and ensures employees are trained to perform these plans. Responsible for complying with all technical aspects of the job including adherence to all drawings, procedures, etc. Responsible for manufacturing, installation, operation, testing, and process operations that have a significant financial impact on the company's performance. Supervises qualified trades staff; monitoring job and budget performance for all shifts. Responsible for daily operations of units with direct supervision to monitor Craft employees for day to day work flow and provides direction using established polices and procedures to ensure that projects are completed on schedule
Additional common management responsibilities as listed in Shipbuilding Management Charter 0001 within command media (SBMC 0001) and applicants should review the Charter and policies and procedures before applying for position.
Must Have
High School and 4 years combined manufacturing, shipbuilding, trades, military experience -OR- Associate Degree in a Trade/Technical and 3 years of relevant manufacturing, shipbuilding, trade and/or military experience -OR- a Bachelors Degree
Internal candidates must have a Superior Attendance and Disciplinary Record.
  • Candidate cannot have more than 3 unexcused absences in the last 180 day period.
  • Candidate cannot have any safety DANS that result in a disciplinary layoff in last 180 day period.
  • Candidate cannot have more than 2 total DANS in the last 180 day period (excluding lost tool).
  • Must be willing and able to work any shift assigned.

Nice to Have
Some supervisory experience; Ability to read and interpret blueprints and the Ability to interact with all levels of personnel and management; Basic computer and communication skills.
