Job description

Job Summary: 

The System Administrator I will provide support for user desktops as well as minor administration tasks with company servers and specialized appliances.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

This is a primarily onsite, in-office position providing hands-on technical support and deployments.

  • Deploy and image desktop/laptop systems at scale using KACE SDA or similar imaging tools, ensuring consistent Windows 11 configurations across the organization
  • Provide in-person hardware troubleshooting and repairs including component replacement, upgrades, and diagnostics
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues on end-user systems, providing timely hands-on resolution for daily support requests
  • Manage physical IT asset inventory, tagging, and tracking for all distributed hardware
  • Perform onsite user workstation setups, moves, and technology refreshes
  • Create, modify, and maintain user accounts across Active Directory, Azure AD/Entra ID, and other managed systems
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts and workflows to streamline repetitive deployment and configuration tasks
  • Document technical procedures, create knowledge base articles, and maintain accurate ticket records
  • Perform data backup and restoration for user profiles and critical files
  • Collaborate directly with end users and security teams to assess computing requirements and ensure systems meet business needs
  • Respond to walk-up support requests and maintain IT support area availability

Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact clearly and concisely with all departments and levels of management with a strong focus on customer service
  • Strong documentation skills with ability to create clear, detailed KB articles and ticket notes
  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Hands-on experience with Azure AD/Entra ID user management (password resets, account provisioning, group memberships)
  • Mobile Device Management (MDM) experience with Intune, or similar platforms for device enrollment, policy deployment, and trouble shooting
  • Proficient with Windows 11
  • Mobile device support (iOS and Android)
  • Basic Active Directory concepts and user object management
  • Experience with ticketing systems
  • Hardware troubleshooting (laptops, desktops, peripherals)
  • Microsoft 365 administration (user licensing, mailbox management, Teams support)

 

Education, Experience, and Licenses/Certifications:

  • High School diploma or GED-equivalent
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, System Administration, or closely related field, or equivalent experience required
  • Up to 2 years of system administration and network administration experience
  • Experience with Windows 11
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications
  • Familiarity with Group Policy and Intune policy

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit at a desk for prolonged periods working on a computer (4 to 8 hours)
  • Ability to operate the equipment used for the job
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds at times
  • May be required to work unpredictable hours in emergencies
