Reports To: Associate Pharmacy Manager
Employee Type: EXEMPT X NON-EXEMPT
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Retail Pharmacy Associate Clerk supports the Pharmacy Techs and the Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) by ensuring that the Pharmacy is clean and organized and that customers receive their completed orders in a timely manner.
This job description is intended to identify some of the primary duties and responsibilities. Mayers Memorial Hospital District reserves the right to modify, supplement, delete or augment the duties and responsibilities specified in this position description, at MAYERS MEMORIAL HOSPITAL DISTRICT'S sole and absolute discretion.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. High School diploma or equivalent
  2. Must be 18 years of age.
  3. Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  4. Excellent customer service skills.
  5. Ability to communicate effectively with customers and employees.
  6. Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  7. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  8. Ability to bend, reach, climb, and squat frequently.
  9. Ability to type proficiently.
  10. Basic computer skills required to operate pharmacy software and other programs.
  11. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling prescriptions.
  12. Ability to work independently and exhibit effective problem-solving skills.
  13. Previous experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting is preferred.
  14. Knowledge of basic pharmacy terminology and medications preferred.

Specific Competencies:
In this role, candidates are expected to acquire a comprehensive understanding of fundamental pharmacy terminology and medications. Proficiency in these areas is essential for accurately processing prescriptions, providing informed customer assistance, and ensuring adherence to pharmaceutical regulations.
  1. Provide accurate, completed orders to customers.
  2. Knowledge of basic pharmacy terminology and medications will be required to obtain.

  7. Answering phones and directing customer calls to appropriate personnel

  9. Maintaining and cleaning equipment, work areas, and shelves
  10. Processing prescriptions to be filled and ensuring that the pharmacist has the data necessary to fill the orders.
  11. Performing other clerical tasks as needed

  13. Record keeping related to inventories, receipts, purchases, and deliveries.
  14. Preparing prescription labels
  15. Processing medical insurance claims and collecting co-payments
  16. Packaging and labeling products under the supervision of a pharmacist
  17. Restocking shelves
  18. Process and package mailers
  19. Able to adapt to new procedures and requirements.
  20. Manage and adhere to return to stock process.
  21. Unpacking and organizing incoming merchandise, including sorting items that require special handling.
  22. Check outdated medications.
  23. Working as a team and communicating clearly
  24. Helping customers locate over the counter products.
  25. Handling customer problems/concerns in a calm manner and referring them to the pharmacist or manager accordingly.
  26. Notifying the pharmacist and manager of any problems or malfunctions
  27. Checking refrigerator and freezer temperatures
  28. Properly processing pseudoephedrine sales
  29. Promoting Teamwork
  30. Providing professional services

Professional Requirements:
  1. Adheres to dress code; appearance is neat and professional.
  2. Completes annual education requirements if applicable.
  3. Maintains regulatory requirements.
  4. Wears identification while on duty.
  5. Attends annual evaluation and participates actively in this process.
  6. Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work in designated time.
  7. Attends all meetings as appropriate.
  8. Exhibits the mission, ethics, and goals of Mayers Memorial Hospital District in the performance of job duties.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  1. Willingness to work beyond normal working hours and in other positions temporarily when necessary.
  2. Is involved with personnel, visitors and government agencies, etc., when necessary.
  3. Must function independently, have personal integrity, have flexibility and the ability to work effectively with other personnel, clients and support agencies.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
