Description

Associate Equine veterinarian – Snohomish, WA (Greater Seattle/Puget Sound)

$110,000 - $130,000 Base Salary + Production, No Negative Accrual

Ambulatory Freedom, Specialist Backup

Where field practice meets a full referral hospital

Ever wished you could practice the hands-on, relationship-driven ambulatory medicine you love—without ever being the last line of defense? At Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital, the road ends at a fully staffed equine referral hospital, not at your truck. When your farm call turns into a colic, our board-certified surgeons and internists are minutes away or call away, not a trailer-ride-and-a-prayer down the highway. Caring for horses in the Puget Sound since 1963, we’ve built one of the country’s largest multi-species practices—and we’re looking for an ambulatory doctor who wants to serve an amazing community with a specialist team standing behind every case.

What You Get:

  • Established Referral Backup, On Day One: Practice ambulatory medicine knowing three board-certified surgeons (DACVS-LA), a board-certified internist(DACVIM), and an integrative medicine team are behind you—plus 24-hour nursing care and two surgical suites.
  • A 23-Acre Home Base: Work from a facility built for horses—four digital X-ray units, 1.5m and 3.3m endoscopy, two portable ultrasound units, MRI, shockwave, equine sling, and a reference-quality In-house lab
  • Elite, Everyday Mentorship: Our doctors are known as teachers. Whether you’re a new grad or seasoned DVM, you’ll case-manage alongside specialists who genuinely enjoy sharing knowledge—a “doctors doctor” environment.
  • A Consistent Schedule: Practice is open Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with ambulatory emergency coverage on a shared rotation-because the on-call load is spread across our team, you’ll have time to focus on what’s important outside the clinic
  • Progressive Compensation: Competitive base salary with production opportunity and No Negative Accrual—your safety net is never a debt.
  • Sign-On Bonus + Industry-Leading Relocation Package
  • Bring your dog to work at our daycare!

What You’ll Do:

  • Build Lasting Relationships: Get to know the family and care for the horse year after year—from preventative and geriatric care to being the first call when something just feels wrong
  • Practice Full-Scope Ambulatory Medicine: Farm calls and haul-in appointments across a caseload focused on preventive and geriatric care, with room to develop interests in dentistry, reproduction, podiatry, sports medicine, and imaging.
  • Collaborate, Don’t Go It Alone: Refer seamlessly to on-site surgery and internal medicine, and lean on integrative options (acupuncture, chiropractic) when they serve the patient.
  • Serve a Loyal Community: Care for the horses across Snohomish, Arlington, Marysville, Monroe, Lake Stevens, Duvall, Everett, and the greater Puget Sound.

The Snohomish Lifestyle

Located in a growing rural setting just 30 minutes from Seattle, Snohomish offers the rare combination of small-town character and big-city access.

  • Ski in the morning, hike in the afternoon, and be on the water by eveningthe Cascades, three national parks, and the Puget Sound are all in your backyard
  • Puget Sound at your doorstep for kayaking, whale watching, and paddleboarding
  • Endless trails for mountain biking, horseback riding, trail running, and backpacking
  • Charming historic downtown Snohomish with the culture and amenities of Seattle a short drive away
  • 5 Minutes to dog-friendly hiking and mountain biking trails.

Requirements

  • DVM/VMD degree
  • Active Washington State Veterinary License, In good standing prior to start date
  • Active DEA license or DEA license eligible
  • A genuine interest in all aspects of equine medicine, providing high-quality care, and a passion for educating clients
  • A passion for surgery, dentistry, and building “year after year” relationships with our community.
