Mid-Level Chemical Laboratory Technician
Materials, Processes, & Physics | Aerospace Testing

We are hiring an Associate or Mid-Level Chemical Laboratory Technician to support Materials, Processes & Physics (MP&P) testing in Seattle, Washington. This six-month contract role supports aerospace engineering through laboratory analysis of fluids, lubricants, contamination, and material testing using analytical instrumentation including XRF, FTIR, GC/GC-MS, automated titrators, pH meters, and ASTM/SAE laboratory methods.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform quality assurance (QA) testing and analysis of fluids, lubricants, and chemical materials.
  • Operate analytical laboratory equipment including XRF, FTIR, GC/GC-MS, pH meters, automated titrators, and manual titration systems.
  • Conduct laboratory testing to qualify new materials, equipment, tools, parts, and manufacturing processes.
  • Prepare laboratory reagents, calibration standards, and verification materials to ensure accurate instrument performance.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, including calibration records and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Support complex failure investigations by analyzing failed materials and processes, determining root causes, documenting findings, and recommending corrective actions.
  • Develop and execute laboratory test plans while documenting results and technical recommendations.
  • Assist with the development, validation, and revision of laboratory procedures, specifications, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and compliant laboratory environment by following laboratory SOPs and implementing 5S principles.
  • Coordinate laboratory testing activities and support customer testing requirements and schedules.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry.
  • Experience operating analytical laboratory instrumentation, including:
    • XRF (X-Ray Fluorescence)
    • FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy)
    • GC and/or GC-MS
    • Automated titrators
    • Manual titration techniques
    • pH meters
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to perform laboratory testing while maintaining quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to work onsite in Seattle, Washington.
  • Must be available for first-shift training followed by a second-shift schedule.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience documenting laboratory test results and communicating technical findings to customers.
  • Experience performing laboratory testing in accordance with ASTM, SAE, or other industry standards.
  • Experience coordinating laboratory testing schedules and customer requirements.
  • Experience supporting laboratory process improvements and technical procedure development.
