Job Summary:

Adventist Health Saint Helena is seeking an Associate Chaplain for a per-diem position with 8-hour day shifts. We are looking for a qualified and dedicated individual who is able to work onsite at our Saint Helena, CA, location.

Provides spiritual counseling, support and care in line with beliefs and desires of patients, family members and interdisciplinary team members in times of spiritual distress or crisis.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in theology, spirituality, pastoral ministry or equivalent subject matter accredited from a US Department of Education Approved Organization: Required
  • Master of Divinity degree accredited from a US Department of Education Approved Organization: Preferred
  • Ecclesiastical endorsement from the chaplain's respective denomination or faith tradition: Required

Essential Functions:

  • Provides pastoral care services on an on-call basis for patients in various situations, such as those undergoing surgical procedures, facing end-of-life issues and following traumatic accidents.
  • Provides comfort and support for patient family members and friends.
  • Responds to requests for pastoral care in a timely manner.
  • Ensures the religious and spiritual needs of patients and their loved ones are met. Acts as a spiritual resource for staff.
  • Accountable to the organizational mission, core vision and values.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
