Position: Lead Business Process Analyst
Location: Folsom, CA (Hybrid)
Duration: Contract
Under the general direction of the Senior Manager, plays the role of a technical and business process design expert and is responsible for leading business process design/training, and continual quality improvement across the organization. Supports the development of measurement and quality improvement programs throughout the business to distinguish the California ISO as an industry leader. Performs complex analysis to identify process opportunities, gaps, redundancies, and needed changes. Oversees and provides guidance on the creation and maintenance of business process models, the development or improvement of quality controls, and the administration of the process model repository. Develops computer based training material for organization wide change management through frequent role based training.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
35% Collaborates with leads to develop technical/business process and quality improvement programs. Provides guidance to project teams to enable positive change across the organization and drive desired improvements. Facilitates workshops in business process and quality improvement to ensure alignment between process owners, document processes and make improvements in business results and corporate resilience. Serves as a change agent to effect California ISO commitment to quality.
25% Responsible for maintaining corporate wide business process models and process structures using standards. Ensures revisions to business processes are timely and reflect best practices, robust controls and up-to-date Activity Based Costing (ABC) code information. Manages the SharePoint repository including diagrams, documents, other files, and all related metadata. Communicates the importance of maintaining and improving business processes across the organization. Reviews organizational practices and relationships, and recommends improvement efforts to gain efficiency.
25% Evaluates the effectiveness of business process controls and performance measures. Works to ensure the adequacy of controls when documenting business processes and making improvements. Performs analysis, supports risk assessments for priority programs, and recommends improvements. Provides technical guidance, apply Lean Six Sigma tools/best practices (e.g. root cause analysis), and support other quality efforts as needed for California ISO staff
15% Develops and maintains Computer-Based-Training content to roll out organizational process changes and frequent training to relevant staff. Works within the Continuous Improvement (CI) framework to manage the queue of CI requests and ensures CI tasks are completed in a timely manner to deliver organizational quality improvements
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Level of Education and Discipline:
Bachelor’s degree (BA, BS) or equivalent education, training, or experience in Electrical Engineering, Management or Mathematics.
Amount of Experience:
6 -10 years related experience required.
Certifications:
Lean Six Sigma (LSS) or other process certification(s) desired. Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP) certification desired.
Type of Experience
Must have deep knowledge of the Energy Industry, with specific knowledge of Electric/Utility organizations and ISO experience highly preferred. Experience in process modeling, metric development, statistical analysis, and process improvement methodologies required. Experience in developing CBT content, SDLC and Project management is strongly desired.

Understands how business processes support energy industry regulatory requirements, corporate strategies, System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) projects, enhancement and defect management, and business objectives. Ability to provide practical and feasible solutions to problems, keeping multiple conflicting considerations into account. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and writing skills required. Excellent analytical skills are required, including the ability to effectively communicate complex technical materials and concepts in a non-technical manner. Hands-on experience using modeling software (e.g. MS Visio) and best practices. Must be able to handle a dynamic and changing work environment, and work independently. Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel and SharePoint. Self-motivated, problem solving skills and the ability to influence others without direct authority.
Must be able to understand how the California ISO business processes support business and corporate strategies, goals and objectives. Strong communication (written/verbal), persuasion, negotiation, multi-tasking and documentation skills required, with demonstrated attention to detail. Ability to manage confidential/sensitive information and documents in a professional manner.
