Job description

In this role you will join our Mid-Atlantic Government Banking team in Tyson's Corner, VA. This is a banking-forward coverage role supporting senior bankers in new client acquisition, relationship deepening, and disciplined portfolio and pipeline management across state and local government clients. You will be expected to possess an understanding of our range of financial solutions. You will demonstrate a genuine interest in serving government clients, commitment to teamwork and partnership, and consistently uphold the highest standards of integrity, work ethic, and attention to detail. 

 As an Associate Banker in Government Banking you will play a pivotal role in acquiring new clients and nurturing existing relationships. Our team manages commercial client relationships throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region, with a focus on states, cities, counties, school districts, transportation authorities, and other government entities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support coverage of cities, counties, school districts, authorities, and other public-sector entities across the Mid-Atlantic region.
  • Drive prospecting and business development support: target lists, research, outreach coordination, meeting preparation, and opportunity tracking.
  • Prepare relationship reviews, pitch books, account plans, and call prep materials; maintain accurate internal notes and action items.
  • Coordinate internal execution across partners to deliver cohesive client solutions while remaining coverage led.
  • Provide banking and credit execution support including diligence coordination, internal process management, and documentation readiness.
  • Maintain strong operating rigor on pipeline hygiene, next steps, internal updates, and timelines.
  • Stay current on public-sector trends including budgets, liquidity needs, operating cycles to inform coverage priorities.
  • Champion a customer-centric, high-integrity, team-first culture.
     

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • 2+ years in a similar banking, credit, treasury, or client coverage role.
  • Proven ability to develop and retain profitable relationships in a competitive environment.
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills; comfortable supporting client dialogue.
  • Working knowledge of commercial banking products, processes, and risk/control discipline.
     

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience with government or public-sector clients strongly preferred.
  • Mid-Atlantic market familiarity and demonstrated ability to execute across internal stakeholders.
