ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: includes the following.

Other duties may be assigned:

  • Ensures engineering drawings, maintenance procedures and technical information are kept up to date.
  • Confers with the engineering department and recommends design or material changes
  • Develops and/or updates maintenance SOP's, strategies and standards
  • Identifies safety hazards for both maintenance and production employee's and develops appropriate actions.
  • Identify and implement process equipment improvements utilizing reliability-based maintenance philosophy
  • Provide direction to maintenance associates and contract labor
  • Work with planners/scheduler to develop detailed shutdown work plans
  • Optimize spares holding levels, develop efficient supply contracts and minimize stock holding costs
  • Develop & organize training programs for maintenance associates that apply to operations, maintenance and safety
  • Carries out root cause analysis on equipment failures and takes appropriate measures to prevent failures from reoccurring
  • Promotes the use of rational process in problem solving and decision making
  • Develops capital requests, cost justifications and project management
  • Implement standardization of HMIs and PLCs, to include training, and supporting technical specifications
  • Establishing repair priorities through communications with the operating departments, line maintenance associates and planners
  • Determining whether to buy new or repair
  • Communicating with vendors for the purpose of timely repairs
  • Creating Work orders and MSO's as needed
  • Determining most cost-effective repair method
  • Documentation of activities and status in the work orders
  • Communicating with Engineers where design changes may be required because of repetitive repairs
  • Keeping Planners informed as to status of equipment repair
  • Reviewing the addition of Spare and Bulk parts
  • Taking on Maintenance Excellence Projects to improve efficiency
  • Researching purchasing department spare part procurement problems
  • Reviewing PM's for best efficiency as per RCM methods
  • Handling repairable spare storeroom items
  • Executing inspection of storeroom fabricated parts
  • Assisting Engineers with Maintenance and Engineering infrastructure improvements Promoting common spare parts
  • Assist in other functions as directed
