Associate's degree in Technical Theatre, Theatre, Dance, or a related field required. Master's degree preferred. Minimum of three years of professional experience in theatrical design and/or technology, scenic construction, stage lighting, audio and projection equipment, live performance support, or a related field preferred. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities may be considered.
Nature & Purpose of Position
Primarily responsible for providing stage lighting and audio/visual technical support for live productions in the Montague Dance Theater. Supports technical production for live performances and events in collaboration with the Department of Dance.
Primary Responsibilities
Serves as a member of the College of Arts and Media (CAM) production team. Collaboratively supports the artistic and technical elements of productions in the Montague Dance Theater and throughout the college, when needed, including undergraduate, graduate, faculty, and guest artist productions. Maintains stage lighting, audio, visual, and rigging systems infrastructure for performance and teaching spaces, including related equipment, stock supplies, equipment inventory, and provides instruction on the safe use of equipment within those spaces. Coordinates equipment maintenance, conducts equipment inventory, coordinates access to related spaces and attends production and departmental meetings, as required. Collaborates with CAM Marketing and CAM Patron Services teams as needed to support performances and events. Works within the CAM Production Team to support activities across the college as assigned. Works in conjunction with academic departments to supervise student assistants and crews. Performs other duties as assigned.
Other Specifications
Required to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, as production schedules require. Requires handling heavy objects; working in tight spaces, under theatrical lighting conditions, and at heights; and adhering to all safety protocols. Design and drafting skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a student-focused production environment are required. Experience with overhead motorized and counterweight fly systems is required. Must be student-focused and committed to collaborative production assignments and processes.
