Role Description This part-time Associate Attorney role is an on-site position based in Laredo, TX. The Associate Attorney will support litigation and advisory matters involving school law, governmental entity defense, and related civil, employment, and transactional work. Daily responsibilities include conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, contracts, and advisory memoranda, and assisting with discovery, depositions, and trial preparation. The role also involves providing clear legal advice to clients, participating in negotiations and settlement discussions, and collaborating with partners and senior attorneys to develop case strategy. The attorney will be expected to manage deadlines, maintain organized case files, and communicate with clients and opposing counsel in a professional, timely manner.


Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Law, with a focus or interest in Labor and Employment Law and public-sector or school law matters.
  • Ability to provide practical Legal Advice to clients, including governmental entities, and to translate complex legal concepts into clear guidance.
  • Proficiency in legal Research, including case law, statutes, regulations, and administrative guidance relevant to education and governmental law.
  • Effective Negotiation skills for handling settlements, contracts, and dispute resolution on behalf of clients.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active license in good standing with the State Bar of Texas (or eligibility for prompt admission).
  • Strong legal writing, drafting, and oral advocacy skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple matters, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
