Job description

We're seeking someone to join our team as an AI Development Solution Engineering Specialist to partner directly with business teams to design, deliver, and scale production-ready AI agents that accelerate adoption of the Firm's AI Development Platform while establishing reusable patterns that enable broader innovation across the organization.

In the Technology division, we leverage innovation to build the connections and capabilities that power our Firm, enabling our clients and colleagues to redefine markets and shape the future of our communities. This is a Software Engineering III position at Associate level, which is part of the job family responsible for developing and maintaining software solutions that support business needs.

Since 1935, Morgan Stanley is known as a global leader in financial services, continuously evolving and innovating to better serve our clients and our communities in more than 40 countries around the world.

What you'll do in the role:

  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand end-to-end processes, identify manual or inefficient activities, and determine whether an agentic solution is appropriate.

  • Design, build, and deploy production-grade agentic systems using firm platforms, the Claude Agent SDK, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) tooling.

  • Develop agent orchestration capabilities including task decomposition, tool integration, context management, state management, and long-running workflows.

  • Establish evaluation frameworks by creating test sets with business subject matter experts, defining performance metrics, and measuring outcomes against agreed success criteria.

  • Design solutions that balance business value, technical complexity, maintainability, and operational support requirements.

  • Embed governance, compliance, and auditability controls, including human approvals, policy enforcement, and traceable audit records.

  • Support production implementation through monitoring, observability, performance validation, scalability planning, and release readiness activities.

  • Contribute reusable frameworks, documentation, best practices, and technical guidance to accelerate AI adoption across engineering teams.

What you'll bring to the role:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • At least 3 years of experience in software engineering, solution design, and application development.

  • Experience building and deploying AI-enabled or agentic applications for production use.

  • Strong proficiency in Python, including development of modular, reusable, and maintainable software components.

  • Strong proficiency in leveraging agentic coding tools like Claude Code, Codex and similar.

  • Working knowledge of agent engineering concepts, including tool/function calling, MCP, retrieval techniques, prompt management, and orchestration patterns.

  • Experience evaluating AI systems through automated testing, model-based assessment, regression testing, and test-set development.

  • Familiarity with operating AI systems in production environments, including observability, tracing, reproducibility, cost management, and version control.

  • Experience with data engineering (including SQL and at least one non-relational or large-scale data store)

  • Experience in DevOps, CI/CD practices, Git-based repositories (ex. GitHub, Bitbucket), and data governance, privacy, and security requirements.

All our positions are located in Montreal, Quebec. We offer a hybrid work environment, combining remote work and attendance in the office.
