About the Role 

We are seeking a Senior Developer to join one of our product team. Reporting to the Associate Director of Engineering, the team is dedicated to product development and the ongoing enhancement of features within our SaaS application. 

As a senior member of the team, your critical thinking and solution-oriented approach continually support the success of the team. Senior Developers play a key role in scoping their team's technical work, using their knowledge to ensure it is properly sequenced, designed, and implemented. 

The candidate will work directly on the systems that power how new customers come on board, making onboarding faster, reducing manual effort, and ultimately improving the experience for both internal teams and customers. Expect a fast-paced environment with a strong sense of purpose, where your contributions will directly cut the time and cost it takes to bring new customers into the fold, and shape how the company scales. Join us in building the next generation of admin tooling that powers efficient, seamless customer onboarding.

What You'll Do 
  • Design, code, test, and debug complex software with a high level of quality, sitting as a full-time member of a feature development team. 
  • Provide technical leadership for your team, and assist in improving your colleagues' skills through code reviews, technical mentoring, role-modelling, coaching, and knowledge-sharing.
  • Lead technical innovation in the areas of component re-use, extensibility, maintainability and scalability.
  • Monitor your applications in production, and proactively identify and fix issues clients are encountering.
  • Contribute to defining and implementing the product-wide technical roadmap, ensuring the success of technical cross-team initiatives and responsible adoption of new technologies that are aligned with industry trends.
  • In the future, participate in an on-call rotation (that respects your time) to support your team's software.
  • Identify gaps in product requirements and work with Product Owners to design features that meet client needs
  • Plan, implement and execute end to end automated tests that validate good quality results. Evolve AlayaCare's testing practices.
  • Help team members understand core concepts and tools of their craft.
  • Anticipate problems, recognize barriers, and proactively raise concerns to management and to senior members of the technical organization.

What You Bring to the Team 

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in computer science, mathematics, or related fields.
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience with data software development.
  • Extensive development experience with Python and unit testing using PyTest.
  • Some experience with React and JavaScript (preferably Vue), along with their respective unit testing frameworks.
  • Experience using SQL databases, Git, CI/CD tools, Docker, SQLAlchemy, cloud computing platforms (AWS preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of AI-assisted development practices combined with a proactive approach to keeping pace with advancements
  • Awareness of current industry trends in technology, performance, and software development tools and practices.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Bilingual in French and English considered an asset.
