Job description

Safety Management Group is a nationally recognized professional service organization that provides workplace safety consulting, training, staffing, program planning, and implementation. Safety Management Group seeks a local Safety Advisor - Construction - Troy, MO.
The key function of a Safety Advisor is to put Safety at the forefront of their job, prioritize the client's needs, work well in a team setting, be self-managed, and be flexible when it comes to change and travel. The Associate in this role will be working in a Construction setting. 40-50 hours per week.
This person will be a subject matter expert for contractors and TM's that are doing construction activities at the facility.
Overview of Job Responsibilities:
  • Site safety observations, including documentation of findings
  • Oversee all construction contractors/projects onsite
  • Facilitates corrective measures
  • Work with contractors to implement construction safety management systems and other safety requirements
  • Conduct weekly training consisting of but not limited to orientation, lockout tagout, fall protection, and job hazard analysis preparation
  • Provide safety leadership for new and existing construction projects
  • Lead daily contractor safety representatives' meetings
  • Conduct formal safety observations and coach contractors on observation accuracy
  • Review contractor JHA's to confirm completeness and accuracy of work being performed
  • Lead, support, and participate in key safety initiatives
  • Promote the client's core values: Motivate, Collaborate, Appreciate, Innovate, Relate
  • Work in tandem with another Safety team member

Requirements
  • Five plus years of construction safety experience
  • OSHA 510 - Construction
  • A degree in Safety or a related field is preferred
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Must be willing to work weekends as necessary
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Must be able to perform independently with minimum direct supervision
  • Professional certification preferred (CSP, ASP, CHST, CIH, etc.)

Physical Demands of the job may include:
  • Moving about long distances
  • Ascending/Descending stairs and ladders
  • Remaining in a stationary position for a prolonged period
  • Working in extreme weather
  • Being exposed to loud noises
  • Wearing personal protective gear correctly
