Job Description

The Accounting Manager is responsible for all accounting activities related to income auditing, cashiering, AP Processing, A/R collection, tax compliance, payroll and month end processing so as to ensure financial controls, accurate reporting and hotel profitability.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all policies/service procedures/standards
  • Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment
  • Assist in the management of day-to-day operations and assignments of accounting staff, plan and organize work, communicate goals
  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments
  • Assist in managing revenues received and dispersed including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll, audit, General Ledger reporting, and cash handling functions for the hotel
  • Implement and maintain acceptable accounting practices and procedures as required by company policy and procedures, generally accepted accounting practices, and as effected by local conditions
  • Prepare financial analyses of hotel operations including variance explanation and make recommendations to ensure the achievement of business goals
  • Preparation of all balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts and reporting
  • Develop and implement financial control procedures and systems; maintain documents for audits of hotel accounts; ensure compliance with government regulations, federal, state and local laws
Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
*High school diploma or GED
*2 year accounting experience
*1 year hotel resort experience
*Must be able to read, write, and speak English

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
*Able to work alone without supervision, and work well with others.
*Manage A/P and A/R clerks, building and maintaining a cohesive team
*Demonstrates the tenancy to act consistently in accordance with key organizational and professional values/standards and to promote them within the organization.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to stand, walk and sit, talk and listen. Must be able to stoop, squat, kneel, bend, push, pull and climb. Must be able to use hands and fingers. Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 25-50 pounds. Must be able to taste and smell recipes and/or odors. Specific vision abilities required by the job includes close vision, distant vision and color vision. Must be able to work around mechanical and moving objects.
