Accountant II Job Description
Job Summary:
The Accountant is responsible for managing the day-to-day financial operations of the agency, including payroll, accounts receivable and payable, general ledger maintenance, and financial reporting. This role supports the mission and values of ABLE, Inc. through accurate and timely accounting functions and collaboration with internal departments. The Accountant II demonstrates strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Accounting Functions (AR/AP/Payroll):
  • Process full-cycle payroll, including status changes, timesheet reviews, deductions, and tax filings.
  • Verify payroll summaries for accuracy of payee, hours, deductions, and pay amounts.
  • Maintain payroll-related spreadsheets (PLT, holiday worked, scheduled hours, benefits, 401k, etc.).
  • Process accounts receivable, accounts payable, and purchase orders.
  • Submit requests for intrafund transfers.
  • Reconcile the general ledger and all bank accounts monthly.
  • Maintain and reconcile petty cash.
  • Submit accurate billing to state and county funding sources.
  • Coordinate with program staff to reconcile people supported's bank accounts.
  • Review and allocate vehicle mileage logs.
  • Maintain and generate year-end fixed asset reports.
  • Prepare and present monthly financials for Board review.
  • Perform all required year-end financial and reporting activities.
