Job description


Activities Assistant will be your main job focus! You will occasionally assist residents at doctors appointments.

You WILL be required to help move furniture and lift heavy items to prepare for resident events.

Pay rate ranges between $11.50 - $12.50 per hour


The ideal candidate is a certified CNA who enjoys building meaningful relationships with seniors, providing exceptional care, and creating engaging activities that enhance quality of life.

ResponsibilitiesLife Enrichment & Activities
  • Assist with planning, developing, coordinating, and implementing recreational, social, educational, and therapeutic activities for residents.
  • Conduct group and one-on-one activities that encourage participation, engagement, and sensory stimulation.
  • Assist with transporting residents to and from activity programs and community events.
  • Set up and clean activity areas before and after programs.
  • Encourage resident participation and foster a positive, welcoming environment.
  • Assist with ordering, organizing, and purchasing activity supplies and materials.
  • Maintain participation records and progress notes as required.
  • Operate audio-visual equipment and other activity resources.
  • Support special events, holiday celebrations, and community outings.
Certified Nursing Assistant Duties
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and personal hygiene.
  • Assist residents with meals, feeding, hydration, and nourishment as needed.
  • Help residents ambulate, transfer safely, reposition, and maintain comfort.
  • Measure and record vital signs, weights, intake/output, and other resident information as assigned.
  • Respond promptly to resident call lights and requests.
  • Observe and report changes in resident condition to the nursing team.
  • Accurately complete documentation, reports, logs, and records.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents.
  • Follow infection control procedures and safety protocols.
  • Maintain resident dignity, privacy, and confidentiality at all times.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Maintain positive working relationships with residents, families, coworkers, and visitors.
  • Follow all facility policies, procedures, state regulations, and professional standards.
  • Attend required training, staff meetings, and continuing education programs.
  • Assist with additional duties as assigned to support resident care and quality of life.
Qualifications
  • Current North Carolina Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate Degree, healthcare training, recreation experience, or related experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in assisted living, long-term care, memory care, or senior services preferred.
  • CPR certification preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Compassionate, patient, energetic, and resident-focused attitude.
  • Understanding of the aging process and the unique needs of older adults.
  • Ability to motivate residents and encourage participation in activities.
  • Respect for resident rights, confidentiality, and person-centered care.
  • Availability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays as needed.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to safely assist residents with transfers, ambulation, and mobility needs.
  • Ability to transport residents in wheelchairs and assist with activity participation.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, bend, reach, balance, and use hands for resident care and activity setup.
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and frequently lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
  • Ability to utilize proper lifting techniques and body mechanics to prevent injury.
