Your Opportunity:

The successful applicant for this Therapy Assistant (TA) position located at the Taber Health Centre will work with the Allied Health team supporting primarily Physiotherapy (PT) along with Occupational Therapy (OT) services for patients in Taber Health Centre acute care, outpatient and community PT programs. Under the direction of PT or OT, the TA will implement routine interventions, promote client and resident healthy living and independence with self-care and motivate clients to actively participate in assigned therapy protocols or programs. The TA may assist with client lifts and transfers, positioning and basic ADL's and IADL's within the context of the therapy program. The TA will be working both independently and as part of the interdisciplinary team (OT, PT, TR, nursing) contributing to the effective and efficient delivery of rehabilitation services. The TA role may include administrative duties such as ordering supplies, scheduling patients, preparing/cleaning the rehabilitation department and equipment.

Description:

As a Therapy Assistant, you will work both individually and as part of an interprofessional team under the assignment, monitoring and evaluation of an audiologist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, recreation therapist or speech-language pathologist. You will contribute to effective and efficient rehabilitation services including direct and indirect client care across the health care continuum (healthy living, getting better, living with illness and disability, end of life care) for all ages as well as non-client service provision. This role will require you to work effectively with internal and external partners, and display professionalism and strong ethics in both client centered care and participation in care teams. You will demonstrate evidence of reflective thinking and lifelong learning that enhances individual and team competency. You will have opportunities to use your interpersonal and clinical skills in contributing to quality improvement, program planning and student supervision.

Required Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

One year experience in rural physiotherapy and/or occupational therapy in both acute care and outpatient MSK preferred. Knowledge of community rehabilitation and AADL is an asset.
