Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) – Surgery & Anesthesia

Denver Veterinary Specialists (DVS) is seeking experienced Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs) to join our Surgery & Anesthesia Specialty Team. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside Board-Certified Surgeons and help build a new specialty practice from the ground up. We are looking for RVTs who bring an entrepreneurial mindset to growing the practice, enjoy mentoring and training fellow team members, and have the confidence and clinical expertise to manage high-acuity cases.



Compensation

  • $28.00–$35.00 per hour, based on experience

Schedule

  • Monday–Thursday, 8:00 AM–6:00 PM
  • Ability to stay beyond scheduled hours for late surgical cases
  • Availability to work Fridays and weekends as the practice grows

Training & Practice Information

All hired technicians will complete onboarding and specialty training at Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital. Training will continue through the launch of our new Denver Veterinary Specialists location, which is set for Fall 2026.  


Qualifications
  • Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) required
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in surgery and anesthesia
  • Specialty hospital experience preferred, but not required
  • Experience managing anesthesia for ASA III and higher-risk patients
  • Proficient in anesthetic induction, intubation, monitoring, and recovery
  • Strong understanding of anesthetic monitoring, including:
  • ECG
    • Blood pressure
    • SpO₂
    • Capnography
    • Temperature monitoring
  • Ability to recognize and respond to anesthetic complications
  • Skilled in surgical preparation, patient positioning, and maintaining sterile technique
  • Familiarity with anesthesia machines, monitoring equipment, and accurate perioperative documentation
  • Excellent attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to collaborate with surgeons and specialty team members
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for surgery, including IV catheter placement, pre-anesthetic preparation, and medication administration
  • Induce, intubate, and monitor anesthesia for surgical procedures
  • Continuously monitor anesthetic depth and vital parameters throughout procedures
  • Assist with surgical preparation, patient positioning, and maintaining a sterile surgical environment
  • Provide attentive post-operative recovery monitoring and pain assessment
  • Operate and maintain anesthesia machines, monitoring equipment, and surgical instruments
  • Accurately document anesthesia records and perioperative care
  • Collaborate closely with surgeons and the specialty team to ensure safe, high-quality patient care
