Reports to - Director of Logistics

Job Summary: The Logistics Manager will be primarily responsible for all branch logistics activities relating to distribution operations, executing all receiving, storage, inventory control, pick, packing and route loading for delivery of products.  

Job Duties:

Direct, optimize, and coordinate all warehouse activity

  • Actively manage P&L expenses, quality, productivity, staffing, safety, capacity, and product flow
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by leveraging key metrics, training, and coaching to keep Associates focused on the most critical elements of the operation
  • Maintain open communications with all operations personnel, as needed
  • Support Customer Service, Counter staff, QA/QC, and Inventory Control as needed
  • Monitor branch review queue
  • Monitor and respond to any inbound, outbound and/or product questions
  • Daily warehouse walkthrough to check for safety and housekeeping issues
  • Review and analyze daily reports to identify opportunities and root causes
  • Oversee all cross-dock and transfer situations as they arise
  • Address and solve general branch issues as they arise
  • Ensure all parcel package shipments are processed timely and accurately for customer delivery

Personnel

  • Direct Reports: Early AM logistics check in with Dispatcher, Night Shift Supervisor, and Inbound/Inventory Control Manager
  • Resolve any employee issues
  • Review/approve payroll hours weekly
  • Ensure all driver and warehouse personnel time-off is coordinated and scheduled to ensure adequate operational coverage
  • Foster communication and teamwork among staff to ensure accomplishment of operational goals with high levels of performance and standards being the norm
  • Completion of all assigned NEFCO trainings 
  • Monitor and enforce all NEFCO training initiatives for associates under your supervision. 
  • Assist in implementation of new training and enhance existing training processes for associates under your supervision.
  • Accept responsibility for company projects that may be indirectly related to his/her area of responsibility
  • Always ensure a safe and clean working environment
  • Evaluate personnel and provide Management with employee reviews as requested
  • Communicate policies to ensure compliance and consistently administer corrective action as necessary
  • Review direct reports' timecards, ensuring employees' time is accurately recorded and complete.
  • Approve employee timecards at the end of each period, prior to supervisor deadline. 
  • Work with employees to resolve errors (missing punches, adjustments, etc.).
  • Review and approve PTO requests.

Quality

  • Ensure inventory accuracy to minimize of shrink, damage, and obsolete inventory
  • Adherence to customer delivery times, linehaul pull times, on-time delivery truck departure, and efficient delivery truck routing
  • Ensure orders are picked, packed, loaded, and delivered accurately, and packaged/labeled to be presented to the customer in proper condition and easily identifiable
  • Ensure all inbound shipments are received and put away accurately both physically and, in the system,
  • Monday - Friday (occasional Saturday)
  • 45-50 hours per week


Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Must have a track record of being a results-oriented person who has worked in industrial warehousing/distribution operations for 5+ years
  • Must be effective communicator up, down and across the organization
  • Ability to lead, coach, delegate to, and mentor Supervisors, Associates, and Drivers, helping them develop critical skills to improve productivity and bench strength
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently with little supervision
  • Ability to leverage data and metrics to drive decisions and continuous operational improvement
  • High school diploma (or equivalent); college degree preferred
  • Ability to review and interpret computer system images, reports, and documents
  • Ability to use NEFCO's ERP software system, Eclipse experience highly desired
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Analytical ability including basic math skills
  • Ability to use warehouse layouts for planning purposes
  • Must have a positive, hard-working attitude
  • Must be detail-oriented and hands on 'roll up the sleeves' type with aptitude for multi-tasking and adapting to a fast-paced environment with ever changing priorities 
  • Ability to stand on concrete floor for long periods of time
  • Ability to work in various climate conditions such as cold, heat, humidity for long periods of time
  • Ability to crouch, stoop, kneel, crawl and twist for lifting
  • Ability to safely as much as 75 lbs.
  • Ability to operate warehouse equipment (including forklifts) and be recertified
