Job Description

Visa's Gateway Services is responsible for the front door into the Visa network, providing the secure connectivity, routing, and access mechanisms that allow merchants, acquirers, wallets, and partners to submit transactions into VisaNet. As Visa modernizes its core processing platforms through Open VisaNet (OVN), Gateway Services plays a critical role in evolving legacy access models toward APIdriven, scalable, and globally distributed architectures that safely support new payment flows, regions, and business models.

Gateway Services is also embedding AI and automation across engineering and operations to accelerate delivery, improve resilience, and evolve from reactive operations toward predictive, intelligent platforms aligned with Visa's 2030 technology strategy.

Essential Functions:

In this mission-critical role, you will be at the forefront of leading, defining, and building the next generation of systems that provide connectivity and access into Visa. These access systems are fundamental to the Visa business and among the most missioncritical platforms at Visa. You will lead and guide your organization to deliver gateway and access solutions that integrate directly with Visa's broader efforts to reengineer and modernize core processing systems, including Authorization and OVN.

This role requires precise endtoend planning, disciplined resource management, and confident communication at the most senior levels of the company. You will lead an outstanding and expanding global engineering organization and will be expected to identify, mentor, and grow the next generation of leaders.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead a large, globally distributed engineering organization, ensuring teams are engaged, productive, and growing. Provide mentorship and succession planning, act as a force multiplier.
  • Implement, deploy, and support missioncritical gateway and access platforms comprising thousands of servers globally, with expectations of zero downtime and the highest levels of cybersecurity.
  • Lead the longterm strategy and architecture for nextgeneration access and gateway systems aligned with VisaNet and OVN modernization.
  • Leverage AI and automation to drive innovation, accelerate delivery, and improve operational resilience without compromising accuracy, define and track AI metrics that evidence highperforming teams.
  • Build strong crossfunctional partnerships with Technology, Product, Client Services, and Risk & Compliance, represent Gateway Services and PPD with credibility at senior executive levels.
  • Maintain a total quality mindset, ensuring the right processes, tooling, and metrics are in place for sustainable, scalable delivery.
  • Drive execution with urgency, clarity, and accountability in a fastmoving, ambiguous environment.
  • Uphold the highest ethical standards and personal accountability.
  • Occasional travel to Singapore and other U.S. locations is required.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or at least 10 years of experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 8 years of work experience with a PhD
  • 10+ years of software engineering management experience with progressively increasing scope and responsibility, including leading crossgeographical teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15+ years of software engineering experience with deep expertise in missioncritical, highavailability platforms.
  • Prior experience in payments or similarly regulated environments operating faulttolerant systems (99.999% availability or higher).
  • Proven track record delivering largescale platforms endtoend, including budget ownership, capacity planning, and forecasting.
  • Demonstrated, productiongrade use of AI to improve engineering productivity, operational effectiveness, and production support.
  • Strong capability in hiring, retaining, and developing top technical talent, including leadership succession.
  • Expertise in open systems and technologies (e.g., Linux, TCP/IP, Java, distributed systems) with a strong security foundation.
  • Exceptional communication skills across written, verbal, presentation, and negotiation contexts.
  • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or a related field.

The estimated salary range for this positionis $261,900.00 to $ 458,000.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
