Job description

Be the First Welcome. Be the First Line of Safety.

Greystone Golf & Country Club is seeking professional, service-oriented Gate Security Guards to serve as the first point of contact for our residents, members, guests, and vendors. More than simply monitoring access, this role plays a vital part in creating a welcoming environment while ensuring the safety and security of one of Birmingham's premier private communities and clubs.

As a Gate Security Guard, you will verify visitor access, monitor community entry points, assist with Club events, and provide exceptional customer service with every interaction. You'll work alongside a dedicated security team to help protect our community while representing Greystone with professionalism, courtesy, and integrity.

If you enjoy interacting with people, take pride in providing outstanding service, and are committed to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment, we'd love to have you join our team.

Essential Functions:
  • Acts as the first impression to the Greystone community and responsible for making it feel safe and welcoming.
  • Monitors assigned gatehouse and controls vehicle access into the community.
  • Verifies visitors, vendors, contractors, and delivery personnel through the community's visitor management system (DwellingLive) and established access procedures.
  • Checks identification and verifies resident authorization when required before granting entry.
  • Maintains accurate visitor logs and completes incident, activity, and security reports in a timely manner.
  • Observes and reports suspicious activity, unsafe conditions, accidents, or security concerns to supervisors and law enforcement when appropriate.
  • Assists with traffic flow and access control during club events, tournaments, and other highvolume activities.
  • Utilizes daily guest lists, event rosters, and tee sheets to facilitate efficient guest entry while maintaining security standards.
  • Participates in shift briefings and communicate important information, including security concerns, gate maintenance issues, and special events.
  • Provides exceptional customer service while enforcing community policies and security procedures.
  • Follows all Club safety policies, emergency procedures, and departmental standards.
  • Requirements:
  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record preferred.
  • Ability to successfully complete required background checks and drug screening.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn visitor management software.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional appearance, sound judgment, and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform routine patrols for extended periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and humidity.
