Fitness Assistant Video


POSITION SUMMARY for Fitness Assistant:

  • This position is responsible for interviewing Wellness Center members and completing the initial fitness assessment, followed up by assisting and orienting members to establish an exercise program specific to meet their personal needs. Provides assistance and coordination in the overall operations of the Wellness Center, including assisting with training schedules and appointments, programs, and events. Assists in conducting group fitness classes (land and water) and facilitates wellness-related programming for Wellness Center members and VMRC residents. Additionally, this position will write wellness-related articles for distribution to appropriate parties.


COMPENSATION:

  • Based upon previous experiences and qualifications, the minimum starting base rate is $16.25 per hour.

WORK SCHEDULE for Fitness Assistant:

  • 8:00am-4:30pm or 9:00am-5:30pm with the occasional open shift (5:45am-2:15pm) and close shift (10:30am-7:00pm)
  • Occasional Saturdays (one Saturday per 6 weeks): 6:45am-12:30pm
  • 80 hours per pay period (every 2 weeks)


Requirements

  • Do you have a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Health Science, Kinesiology or related field?
  • Are you currently certified in CPR, First-Aid, and AED or willing to obtain within 90 days of the start of employment?
  • Do you have experience working with wellness programs or in a related field? (Preferred but not required.)
  • Do you have experience developing exercise prescriptions and performing exercise orientations? (Preferred but not required.)
  • Do you possess a command of the English language and are able to demonstrate written and verbal communication skills?
  • Are you able to provide outstanding customer service using a friendly, outgoing, and customer-service oriented approach in person and by phone?
  • Are you able to work closely with the senior population in a calm, cooperative, respectful, and professional manner?
