Job Summary
The Student Assistant will support the Department of University Housing as an Operations Assistant on the Statesboro Campus beginning Fall 2026.
Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period.
Responsibilities
  • Attends and participates in all required staff meetings and training sessions
  • Be knowledgeable of University Housing operating procedures and philosophies, room entry procedures, emergency procedures, confrontation methods, and crisis intervention techniques
  • Responsible for Health and Safety Inspections in each occupied space twice a semester
  • Maintains accurate records of all activities and transactions during scheduled shifts
  • Maintains building and resident security using assigned keys appropriately during scheduled shifts
  • Assists with inventorying and organizing all University Housing closets
  • Knows, abides by, and serves as a role model for all University Housing policies
  • Appropriately confront guests when necessary to hold them accountable for their behavior
  • Reports all violations of university rules, regulations, and policies to a Housing Operations Leadership Team member, even after the problem has been resolved
  • Utilizes appropriate pathways for the confrontation of higher-level violations (i.e.: GSU UPD, HOLT, etc.)
  • Immediately communicates and documents infractions of University Housing policy via a completed incident report
  • Reports all maintenance problems involving University property, deficiencies, or damages
  • Assists with delivery and set up of events sponsored by University Housing
  • Assists with the distribution of signs and room cleanliness for Eagle Preview or another University-sponsored event
  • Assists with inventory management and organization of all storage spaces deemed necessary by the Associate Director of Housing Facilities
  • Conducts maintenance walks in all residential buildings biweekly
  • Assists and participates in follow-up evaluations with Facilities when major work requests are completed
  • Serves as a professional ambassador to Georgia Southern through appearance, pleasant demeanor, helpful disposition, and responsive attitude

Shift Specifics
  • Up to 25 hours per week
  • Flexible with schedule of availability
  • Shifts available Monday - Friday, 10:00 AM - 7:00 AM
  • Shifts available on nights and weekends

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
  • Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.

Proposed Salary
$8.50 per hour
This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
