INTRODUCTION:

This position is responsible for the planning an implementation of the annual Siletz Tribal Youth Conference; coordinate travel to the annual UNITY conference; and for the oversight of the Siletz Tribal Youth Council. The Youth Services Coordinator is responsible for the planning and implementation of educational; recreational and cultural activities for Siletz Tribal youth. They are also in charge of providing supervision (of Tribal youth) and/or coordinating other participating CTSI programs for youth programming This position serves as a positive role model and leader for Siletz Tribal youth; Work hours for this position are designed around when youth are not in school (weekends and evening hours).

DUTIES:

• Develop and implement youth activity schedule for all non-school days; school breaks; summer, after school hours, and weekends.
• Supervise and implement daily, weekly and monthly schedule of youth activities in professional, consistent and safe manner.
• Plan and implement annual Siletz Tribal Youth Conference.
• Plan and coordinate registration and travel to and from the annual UNITY conference.
• Prepare, monitor and report program budget.
• Monitor and report program outcomes.
• Monitor and guide youth engaged in activities and recreation in an appropriate and positive manner.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary and safe environment for youth during any activity.
• Focus on youth and their well being, establish professional rapport with youth. Monitor and facilitate staff interaction with youth.
• Develop cultural and recreational activities.
• Develop tutoring and/or other education support services and quiet area for homework or computer usage.
• Oversee the Siletz Tribal Youth Council.
• Promote and maintain an attitude of cooperation and team building with other staff and volunteers.
• Promote and actively support the alcohol, tobacco, other drug and violence free policy of the program. 
• When necessary, make referrals to appropriate agency or professional. Advocate and be familiar with resources available to youth.
• Assist Education and Culture departments during all major activities such as Culture Camp, Pow-Wow and Run to the Rogue. 
• Assist/Support the Siletz Area Education Specialists with youth activities throughout the year.
• Communicate activities and schedule with Program Director regularly.
• Ensure that all CTSI policies and procedures are followed. 
• Attend after school programming and youth trainings offered throughout Oregon. 
• Participate in staff meetings and training on consistent basis. 
• Coordinate youth activities and events with outside agencies and business establishments throughout the county and the state. 
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:

High School diploma and two years of education, training, and/or experience in youth related field that demonstrates a working knowledge of supervisory and managerial methods and skills.

Knowledge in:

• Youth programming; Afterschool programming, including Cultural activities & Educational services.
• Best practices, state and federal safety standards for youth and afterschool programming.
• Large event planning.
• Program planning and implementation.
• Youth games, sports, crafts and other activities.
• Budget management and reporting.

Experience in:

• Program development and implementation.
• CPR and first Aid.
• State and federal child safety standards.
• Tutoring and other education support services for youth.
• Youth conflict resolution.
• Managing large youth activities and events.
• Working directly with youth and families.

Ability to:

• Present concepts and ideas verbally and in writing using correct grammar, spelling and punctuation. Preferred experience in using personal computers and office software such as Microsoft Word, Access, Power Point, Photography programs and Excel, preferred.
• Budget for, plan, and implement meaningful youth activities throughout the year.
• Plan and implement large scale events.
• Travel throughout the nation with youth council.
• Work with other CTSI department staff to facilitate large youth events.
• Work with local schools, sports teams, and county recreation coordinators.
• Plan and advertise youth activities, events and other opportunities months in advance.
• Work evening and weekend hours.
• Direct and manage youth and staff.
• Coordinate activities with outside agencies and venues.
• Establish and maintain professional boundaries.
• Prepare, manage and track program budget.
• Report program outcomes.

Other:

• Willingness to participate in orientations and trainings to improve skills in mentoring Siletz Tribal and community youth.
• Promote an ATOD free lifestyle (smoking or vaping on the job is prohibited)
• Must possess a valid driver's license, insurance and be eligible to drive a GSA vehicle.
