Job description

Phillips Academy seeks an Assistant Athletic Trainer to work in partnership with Andover’s certified/licensed athletic training team to provide comprehensive sports healthcare to all Academy students.

The Assistant Athletic Trainer will provide athletic training services including injury prevention, treatment and rehabilitation, sideline injury care, and game day coverage.

Schedule: Late August – early June; generally Monday–Saturday, depending on the needs of the department and athletic schedule.

This is a full-time, exempt staff position and is considered an essential employee.

Qualifications
  • Certification by the NATABOC to qualify for a Massachusetts State License to practice.
  • BS in Athletic Training; master’s degree preferred.
  • Five years working as an Athletic Trainer, preferably with high school-aged students.
  • Strong attention to detail and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassion for the injured student and strong communication skills.
  • Physical stamina and strength to work on their feet throughout the day, lift patients, and carry athletic training equipment.
  • Team-oriented, demonstrating professionalism, respectful communication, and the ability to both provide and receive constructive feedback.
  • Full background check required.
Essential Duties
  • Provide athletic training services to Phillips Academy students and student-athletes under the supervision of the Director of Athletic Training.
  • Oversee assigned training room space.
  • Act as liaison between physicians, specialists, Sykes Wellness Center, coaches, athletes and their parents.
  • Maintain accurate records of injuries and treatment/rehabilitation programs.
  • Work with athletic training staff to provide coaches with information on athletes medically eligible to compete.
  • Assist the Director of Athletics and athletic training staff as requested.
  • Maintain active license in good standing to practice Athletic Training in Massachusetts.
  • Coordinate evidence-based, targeted prevention programs/education.
