Job description

As the Vocational Training Assistant, you'll be responsible for assisting with the development of a meaningful daily schedule with a variety of skill activities that continue to offer a unique balance of exposure to life enhancement and job training services both on site and in the community. Choice and collaboration with other resources available to our participants will promote and enhance their independence and quality of life.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following but are not limited to:

Mission:

Embrace and implement the mission and vision of the organization.

Adhere to all Opportunities, Inc. Policies and Procedures and implements them consistently.

Maintain confidentiality of all participants including but not limited to identity, history, behavioral and medical conditions.

Support a team atmosphere with co-workers and model positive work expectations, service guidelines and behavior.

Represent Opportunities, Inc. in a professional and courteous manner to participants, families, team members, externals stakeholders, legal and medical partners, community agencies, etc.

Represent Opportunities, Inc. in a professional competence through the implementation of the OI Keys to Service Success.

Demonstrate ability to follow directives independently with minimum oversight and direction.

Complete all training requirements of the Adult Day Services Program and Opportunities, Inc.

Direct Support

Adhere to schedule of assigned service.

Provide a safe and clean environment for all participants.

Provide participant assistance and monitoring of AM and PM bus duty.

Assist participants with adhering to their daily schedules.

Provide direct hands on skill training and support to participants as defined by the participant's Day Services Advancement Plan

Implement protocols or motivation plans as defined in the participant's Day Service Advancement Plan

Personal care needs (i.e. eating, toileting, hygiene, etc.) as directed and/or as identified in the participant's Day Service Advancement Plan

Assist with break and lunch periods implementing goals and/or protocols as identified in the participant's Day Service Advancement Plan.

Assist in the planning of participant daily schedule(s) and weekly community outings.

Provide medication administration to identified and authorized participants.(must pass competency training.

Document all activities specific to the daily activities of the participant within required timeframes and guidelines.

Communication and Outcome Feedback

Maintain positive communication with staff, management and external stakeholders when necessary.

Provide feedback to the Adult Day Service Coordinator regarding participant:

Skills progress

Needs, issues and/or concerns

Activity suggestions

Other

Perform any miscellaneous duties as assigned

The successful candidate must also be able to pass the Wisconsin Caregiver Background check, including criminal records check for Wisconsin and previous states of residence; Wisconsin Department of Transportation Check, Department of Justice check and Office of Inspector General check.

Education and/or Experience 

  • High school diploma
  • CNA
  • Post high school education
