Position Summary
Set up and maintain barricades in accordance with department instructions. Based on experience, may be involved in striping operations according to department priorities. This position primarily works outside and is regularly exposed to weather conditions. Will be required to operate a company vehicle; a valid driver's license and a safe driving record is required.  Must abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely. Consistent and reliable attendance is required.  This position's starting wage is $22.50/hr.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Safely loads and unloads Traffic Control Equipment according to department standards. 

Places traffic control devices correctly to assure traffic moves through construction and maintenance zones  safely, duties may vary according to job assignment. 

Performs maintenance on Traffic Control equipment and informs management of any safety concerns or problems.

Safely operates company vehicles as needed to perform job tasks.

With proper training, will be able to read, understand, and follow Traffic Control plan, maps and records to assure that the Traffic Control equipment are in the proper positions on the project.

Maintains safety standards as instructed.

Demonstrates continuous effort to improve efficiency.

Frequently lifts/moves sandbags and other materials weighing between 25-75 pounds.

Works cooperatively and jointly with others to provide quality customer service.

Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and
  • Previous experience in traffic control or related field, or
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Valid Driver's license.
  • Must have good driving record to meet insurability requirements to drive company vehicles.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, city directories, road maps, load tickets, SDS sheets and memos.
  • Ability to write routine correspondence or documentation as needed.
  • Ability to interact effectively with the public, co-workers, supervisors, and Inspectors.
  • Knowledge of safe and efficient operation of hand and power tools.
