Job description

Assistant Director of Annual Giving

Mount Mercy University is seeking an energetic and relationship-focused Assistant Director of Annual Giving to lead annual giving initiatives and cultivate philanthropic support for the University's mission and strategic priorities.

The Assistant Director manages a portfolio of annual giving donors and prospects, develops and executes annual fundraising campaigns, and builds meaningful relationships that inspire donor engagement and long-term support. This position serves as a lead fundraiser for donors contributing $1,000 or more and plays a key role in expanding the University's culture of philanthropy.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing a portfolio of annual giving donors and prospects.
  • Developing and executing annual campaigns through direct mail, email, and digital channels.
  • Coordinating Days of Giving, scholarship stewardship, and special fundraising initiatives.
  • Tracking fundraising results and recommending strategic improvements.
  • Planning the annual Athletic Golf Outing and securing sponsorships.
  • Building relationships with alumni, donors, faculty, staff, and community partners.

Qualifications:

  • Three or more years of fundraising experience, preferably in higher education.
  • Proven ability to cultivate donor relationships and secure philanthropic gifts.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills.
  • Experience using donor databases and fundraising technology.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail and confidentiality.
