Assistant Superintendent

Vertical Mechanical Group (VMG) is a leading mechanical contractor specializing in commercial HVAC and Plumbing systems. Formerly known as Anderson Mechanical Services, Inc. and Inspiration Plumbing Company, VMG brings together decades of industry expertise to deliver high-quality results across new construction, renovations, design-build projects, and complex commercial installations.
As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Assistant Superintendent to support jobsite operations, uphold safety and quality standards, and help drive projects to successful completion.
What You'll Do
Project Leadership
  • Support daily jobsite operations with a focus on safety, quality, and productivity
  • Assist with developing and maintaining project schedules to meet milestones and deadlines
  • Support manpower planning, budgeting, and resource allocation
  • Assist with projects from startup through closeout, including sequencing and coordination
  • Support VMG in meetings with clients, general contractors, and project partners
Safety First
  • Conduct routine jobsite safety inspections
  • Enforce OSHA and VMG safety policies
  • Identify, report, and address hazards, incidents, and near misses
Quality & Accountability
  • Ensure work complies with project plans, specifications, and quality standards
  • Maintain accountability for tools, equipment, and company vehicles
Planning & Documentation
  • Complete daily reports, time sheets, and job logs accurately
  • Track costs, invoices, and subcontractor work
  • Maintain organized project documentation and schedules
Team Leadership
  • Assist with leading and coordinating field crews and subcontractors
  • Help set clear expectations and provide coaching and performance feedback
  • Foster a respectful, team-oriented culture built on accountability

What You Bring
  • 2+ years of experience in commercial construction projects
    (HVAC, Plumbing, or MEP strongly preferred)
  • Experience supporting crews and jobsite operations
  • Knowledge of scheduling, sequencing, and cost control
  • OSHA 30 preferred (or a demonstrated commitment to safety)
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management tools
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
